Verse 10. — The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the lioness, and the teeth of the lions' whelps are broken. 38. Eliphaz's harsh words against Job. — For what does he call the roaring of the lion, but, as we have set forth a little before, the severity of the man? What the voice of the lioness, but the loquacity of the wife? What the teeth of the lions' whelps, but the devouring appetite of the offspring? For because his sons, while feasting, were destroyed, they are signified by the expression of teeth. All which things, while the rigid Eliphaz exults that they are broken, he denounces as though justly condemned. Whose hardness of rebuke he yet redoubles, when he adds:
