518. Same verse. — And in my bosom I have hidden the words of His mouth. 44. To hide God's words in the bosom is another solicitude of the righteous. — In the bosom of the heart we hide the words of His mouth, in that we hear His commands not to pass away, but to be fulfilled in deed. Hence it is that of the Virgin Mother herself it is written: But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart (Luke 2:19). Which words, even when they come forth to operation, lie hidden in the bosom of the heart, if through that which is done outwardly the mind of the doer within be not lifted up. For when the conceived word is brought to work, if through this human praise is sought, the word of God is without doubt not hidden in the bosom of the mind.
