They lost the knowledge of the law, because they refused to believe the truth.—For while they refuse to believe the truth, they lose the knowledge of the law forever; and while they are proud of the law they received, they are surely blinded concerning the glory of their own knowledge. For it is written: 'Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not' (Ps. 68:24). And again it is written: 'Blind the heart of this people, and make their ears heavy' (Isa. 6:10). And again it is written: 'For judgment I am come into this world, that they who see not may see, and they who see may become blind' (John 9:39).
