Ibid.—'And my eyelids have grown dim.' 24. Let them direct the ways of their subjects in place of eyes.—For those are rightly called eyelids who keep watch to foresee the paths of the feet. But when not even the watchful superiors understand the hidden judgments of God, the eyelids of holy Church grow dim. But as I remember I have often already said, blessed Job, holding the type of holy Church, uses now the voice of the body, now the voice of the Head; and while he speaks of her members, he is suddenly lifted up to the words of the Head.
