20. The order of pardon. — The interpretation of these names we here pass over in silence, because we remember that we discoursed on it at greater length in the beginning of this work. But it is to be observed that the order of the pardon received is kept as cautiously as had been foretold, so that in the sacrifices the Lord is reported to have accepted not their face, but that of blessed Job. But because whoever strives to intercede for others is himself rather aided by that very charity, rightly it is subjoined:
