They wrest and drag the obscure sayings of Holy Scripture and of the Fathers to themselves. — 'They snatch from the valleys,' because they gather these things from the humble sayings of the Fathers with a proud spirit. Which, while they boast to have found them in favor of their own party, they run to them with clamors, because indeed everything that they think, out of an appetite for praise, they strive to spread abroad to the ears of men.
