Verse 15. — 'Let his companions dwell in his tabernacle, because he is not.' 22. Satan is said not to be, because he has lost being well. — That is, let the apostate angels move about in the mind of this apostate through their most wicked thoughts — his companions, indeed, who therefore already is not, because he has withdrawn from the highest Essence, and thereby, as his defect increases daily, he tends as it were toward not-being, into which he once fell from Him who truly is; and he is rightly said also not to be, because he has lost being well, although he has not lost the essence of his nature. Yet, expressing these same wicked thoughts still more subtly, he adds, saying:
