Verse 18. — Why didst Thou bring me forth from the womb? Would that I had been consumed, that no eye might have seen me. 91. This indeed he already uttered in his first discourse, saying: Why did I not die in the womb? He who also adds this which he here subjoins—Verse 19—I should have been as though I had not been, carried from the womb to the tomb—there too he attaches in other words nothing otherwise, saying: I should not have subsisted, but like a hidden untimely birth, or like those who, conceived, saw not the light (Job 3:16).
