6. For in the strength of his depravity he draws down even the strong, when through the cunning of his error he snatches away the powerful of this world. Against whom it is said through Paul: 'God hath chosen the weak things of the world, that He may confound the strong' (1 Cor. I, 27). Now the strength of the perverse preacher is the puffed-up knowledge of speech, wherewith, inflated, he despises the rest, and in contempt of all swells up as though singularly learned in his own eyes.
