Verse 7: 'Does God need your lie, that you should speak deceits for Him?' 37. Truth does not seek to be propped up by the aid of falsehood. — God has no need of a lie, because truth does not seek to be propped up by the aid of falsehood. But heretics, because they cannot defend from the truth the things which they perversely understand concerning God, seek, as it were, the shadow of falsehood to prove the ray of light.
