Verse 11. Now Job's three friends, hearing of all the evil that had befallen him, came each one from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had agreed together to come and visit him at the same time, and to console him. The upright intention of Job's friends is darkened by indiscretion. Those who come by agreement to console the afflicted man are shown to have been of how great a charity both among themselves and toward the stricken one. Yet although by this—that Scripture testifies they were the friends of so great a man—it is shown that they were of good zeal and right intention; nevertheless this very intention of theirs, as they burst forth into words, before the eyes of the strict Judge, is darkened by an indiscretion that had arisen.
