Greek original · 29 verses · some words can be tapped for a gloss

← ch. 101ch. 103 →
📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
⚠️ Psalms use Masoretic (Hebrew) numbering, which differs from printed Vulgate and Septuagint editions: Ps 102 here = Ps 101 in print. Convert before citing a printed edition.
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

A prayer for the poor man, when he grows faint and pours out his supplication before the Lord.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come to you.
Do not turn your face away from me in whatever day I am afflicted; incline your ear to me; in whatever day I call upon you, answer me quickly.
For my days have vanished like smoke, and my bones have been scorched like a dry stick.
My heart has been struck like grass and has withered, so that I forgot to eat my bread.
Because of the sound of my groaning, my bone has clung to my flesh.
I have become like a pelican of the wilderness; I have become like a night-raven among ruins.
I kept watch, and I have become like a lone sparrow on a housetop.
All day long my enemies reproached me, and those who praised me swore oaths against me.
For I ate ashes like bread, and I mixed my drink with weeping,
because of your anger and your wrath; for you lifted me up and dashed me down.
My days have declined like a shadow, and I have withered like grass.
But you, O Lord, remain forever, and your memorial to generation and generation.
You will rise up and have compassion on Sion, for it is the time to have compassion on her, for the time has come.
For your servants took pleasure in her stones, and they will have compassion on her dust.
And the nations shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth your glory.
For the Lord will build up Sion, and he will be seen in his glory.
He looked upon the prayer of the humble, and he did not despise their supplication.
Let this be written for another generation, and a people that is being created shall praise the Lord.
For he looked down from his holy height; the Lord looked from heaven upon the earth,
to hear the groaning of those in fetters, to set free the sons of those who had been put to death,
to declare in Sion the name of the Lord, and his praise in Jerusalem,
when peoples are gathered together, and kingdoms, to serve the Lord.
He answered him in the way of his strength: Declare to me the fewness of my days.
Do not take me up in the half of my days; your years are for generation of generations.
In the beginning you, O Lord, founded the earth, and the heavens are the works of your hands.
They shall perish, but you shall remain; and they shall all grow old like a garment, and like a cloak you will change them, and they shall be changed.
102:27
But you are the same, and your years shall not fail.
The sons of your servants shall dwell securely, and their seed shall be established forever.
