Greek original · 25 verses · some words can be tapped for a gloss

← ch. 30ch. 32 →
📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
⚠️ Psalms use Masoretic (Hebrew) numbering, which differs from printed Vulgate and Septuagint editions: Ps 31 here = Ps 30 in print. Convert before citing a printed edition.
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

31:0
To the end. A psalm. Of David. Of ecstasy.
In you, O Lord, I have hoped; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness rescue me and deliver me.
Incline your ear to me; make haste to deliver me. Be for me a protecting God, and a house of refuge to save me.
For you are my strength and my refuge; and for your name's sake you will lead me and sustain me.
You will bring me out of this snare which they hid for me, for you are my protector.
Into your hands I will commit my spirit. You redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth.
You hated those who keep vanities to no purpose; but as for me, I hoped in the Lord.
I will exult and be glad in your mercy, for you looked upon my humiliation; you saved my soul from distresses.
And you did not shut me up in the hand of the enemy; you set my feet in a broad place.
Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am afflicted; my eye is troubled with anger, my soul and my belly too.
For my life has failed in pain, and my years in groanings; my strength has weakened in poverty, and my bones are troubled.
Beyond all my enemies I became a reproach, and to my neighbours exceedingly, and a terror to my acquaintances; those who saw me outside fled from me.
I was forgotten like a dead man, out of mind; I became like a lost vessel.
For I heard the blame of many who sojourn round about; when they were gathered together against me, they plotted to take my soul.
But as for me, O Lord, I hoped in you; I said, "You are my God."
My times are in your hands; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue me.
Make your face shine upon your servant; save me in your mercy.
O Lord, let me not be put to shame, for I called upon you. Let the ungodly be shamed and brought down to Hades.
Let the deceitful lips become speechless, which speak lawlessness against the righteous in pride and contempt.
How great is the abundance of your kindness, O Lord, which you hid for those who fear you, which you wrought for those who hope in you, before the sons of men.
You will hide them in the secret place of your presence from the tumult of men; you will shelter them in a tent from the strife of tongues.
Blessed be the Lord, for he has made his mercy marvellous in a besieged city.
But I said in my ecstasy, "I am then cast away from before your eyes." Therefore you heard the voice of my supplication when I cried out to you.
Love the Lord, all you his devout ones, for the Lord seeks out truths and repays those who act with excessive pride.
Be manly, and let your heart be strong, all you who hope in the Lord.
