Psalms 102 — 4 originals side by side

Versification differs between traditions. Columns are aligned by verse number; where a text has no such verse the cell is left blank rather than forced into line. Tap any word for a gloss.

⚠️ The Chinese and English alongside are the CUV and the WEB, both translated from the Masoretic Text; they follow a different textual tradition from the Greek and Latin shown here and will disagree in places.
ℹ️ Some verses here have no matching verse in the public-domain translations (the Psalm superscriptions are not numbered verses in the CUV or the WEB). Those verses were translated by this site with AI (Claude), not taken from the WEB.

102:0
—
A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before the LORD.
102:1
—
Hear my prayer, Yahweh! Let my cry come to you.
102:2
Non avertas faciem tuam a me : in quacumque die tribulor, inclina ad me aurem tuam ; in quacumque die invocavero te, velociter exaudi me.
—
Don’t hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call.
102:3
Quia defecerunt sicut fumus dies mei, et ossa mea sicut cremium aruerunt.
—
For my days consume away like smoke. My bones are burned as a torch.
102:4
Percussus sum ut foenum, et aruit cor meum, quia oblitus sum comedere panem meum.
—
My heart is blighted like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread.
102:5
A voce gemitus mei adhaesit os meum carni meae.
—
By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones stick to my skin.
102:6
Similis factus sum pellicano solitudinis ; factus sum sicut nycticorax in domicilio.
—
I am like a pelican of the wilderness. I have become as an owl of the waste places.
102:7
Vigilavi, et factus sum sicut passer solitarius in tecto.
—
I watch, and have become like a sparrow that is alone on the housetop.
102:8
Tota die exprobrabant mihi inimici mei, et qui laudabant me adversum me jurabant :
—
My enemies reproach me all day. Those who are mad at me use my name as a curse.
102:9
—
For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mixed my drink with tears,
102:10
a facie irae et indignationis tuae : quia elevans allisisti me.
—
because of your indignation and your wrath; for you have taken me up and thrown me away.
102:11
Dies mei sicut umbra declinaverunt, et ego sicut foenum arui.
—
My days are like a long shadow. I have withered like grass.
102:12
—
But you, Yahweh, will remain forever; your renown endures to all generations.
102:13
Tu exsurgens misereberis Sion, quia tempus miserendi ejus, quia venit tempus :
—
You will arise and have mercy on Zion, for it is time to have pity on her. Yes, the set time has come.
102:14
quoniam placuerunt servis tuis lapides ejus, et terrae ejus miserebuntur.
—
For your servants take pleasure in her stones, and have pity on her dust.
102:15
Et timebunt gentes nomen tuum, Domine, et omnes reges terrae gloriam tuam :
—
So the nations will fear Yahweh’s name, all the kings of the earth your glory.
102:16
quia aedificavit Dominus Sion, et videbitur in gloria sua.
—
For Yahweh has built up Zion. He has appeared in his glory.
102:17
—
He has responded to the prayer of the destitute, and has not despised their prayer.
102:18
Scribantur haec in generatione altera, et populus qui creabitur laudabit Dominum.
—
This will be written for the generation to come. A people which will be created will praise Yah,
102:19
Quia prospexit de excelso sancto suo ; Dominus de caelo in terram aspexit :
—
for he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven, Yahweh saw the earth,
102:20
ut audiret gemitus compeditorum ; ut solveret filios interemptorum :
—
to hear the groans of the prisoner, to free those who are condemned to death,
102:21
that men may declare Yahweh’s name in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem,
102:22
when the peoples are gathered together, the kingdoms, to serve Yahweh.
102:23
Respondit ei in via virtutis suae : Paucitatem dierum meorum nuntia mihi :
He weakened my strength along the course. He shortened my days.
102:24
ne revoces me in dimidio dierum meorum, in generationem et generationem anni tui.
I said, “My God, don’t take me away in the middle of my days. Your years are throughout all generations.
102:25
Of old, you laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the work of your hands.
102:26
Ipsi peribunt, tu autem permanes ; et omnes sicut vestimentum veterascent. Et sicut opertorium mutabis eos, et mutabuntur ;
They will perish, but you will endure. Yes, all of them will wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed.
102:27
But you are the same. Your years will have no end.
102:28
בְּנֵֽי־עֲבָדֶ֥יךָ יִשְׁכּ֑וֹנוּ וְ֝זַרְעָ֗ם לְפָנֶ֥יךָ יִכּֽוֹן׃ {פ}
Filii servorum tuorum habitabunt, et semen eorum in saeculum dirigetur.
