Gregory to Venantius, bishop of Perugia. We have learned that our brother and fellow-bishop Ecclesius is suffering greatly from the cold, for the reason that he has no winter garment. And since he asked that something ought to be sent to him by us, we have sent to your Fraternity for this purpose, by the bearer of these presents, a cloak, a tunic, and a chest-covering, that they ought to be transmitted to him by you without delay. And therefore be zealous to transmit it to our aforesaid brother with all speed, and do not fail to report to us by your letters that you have transmitted this very thing; but do so in such a way that you make as little delay as possible in the transmitting, where the cold is severe.
