Gregory to Donitus the defender. Our son Fortunatus, abbot of the monastery of Saint Severinus, which is situated in this city of Rome, directing thither the bearers of these presents, his monks, for the recovery of the bondservants belonging by right to his monastery, who are said to be lurking there, has petitioned that the aids of your Experience may be present to him. Wherefore by the present authority we command you that you hasten in all things, saving reason, to concur with them and to help them, so that, you being placed there in person and bringing aid in this cause, they may the more speedily and healthfully be able to bring to effect, God being the author, the things which have been enjoined upon them.
