What we have learned concerning our brother Bishop Januarius both the bearer of these presents and copies of our letters will be able to inform you; and therefore let your prudence diligently carry out the excommunication which we have decreed to be laid upon his perverse counsellors, so that those who fall may learn how they ought not to walk incautiously. Moreover, the price of the wheat which had been sent to us under the name of a gift we have transmitted through the bearer of these presents to Redemptus the defensor.

Let your prudence see to it that neither you, nor he who brought it, presume to take any share of profit from that price, but that he restore the whole intact to each severally or to all together, and transmit to me their written receipts concerning that same price; for if I come to know that it has been done otherwise than I admonish, I will exercise no slight vengeance in this matter.
