Psalms 30

Latin original · 13 verses · some words can be tapped for a gloss

← ch. 29ch. 31 →
📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Septuagint, Ge'ez Bible)
⚠️ Psalms use Masoretic (Hebrew) numbering, which differs from printed Vulgate and Septuagint editions: Ps 30 here = Ps 29 in print. Convert before citing a printed edition.
ℹ️ This corpus has no morphological tagging. Glosses are matched by word form against a dictionary — a match does not prove it is the same word (an inflected form can coincide with another word’s lemma). Verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
⚠️ The Chinese and English alongside are the CUV and the WEB, both translated from the Masoretic Text; they follow a different textual tradition from the Greek and Latin shown here and will disagree in places.
ℹ️ Some verses here have no matching verse in the public-domain translations (the Psalm superscriptions are not numbered verses in the CUV or the WEB). Those verses were translated by this site with AI (Claude), not taken from the WEB.

Psalmus cantici, in dedicatione domus David.
A Psalm of a song, at the dedication of the house of David.
30:1
Exaltabo te, Domine, quoniam suscepisti me, nec delectasti inimicos meos super me.
I will extol you, Yahweh, for you have raised me up, and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.
30:2
Domine Deus meus, clamavi ad te, et sanasti me.
Yahweh my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me.
30:3
Domine, eduxisti ab inferno animam meam ; salvasti me a descendentibus in lacum.
Yahweh, you have brought up my soul from Sheol. You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
30:4
Psallite Domino, sancti ejus ; et confitemini memoriae sanctitatis ejus.
Sing praise to Yahweh, you saints of his. Give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
30:6
Ego autem dixi in abundantia mea : Non movebor in aeternum.
As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”
30:7
Domine, in voluntate tua praestitisti decori meo virtutem ; avertisti faciem tuam a me, et factus sum conturbatus.
You, Yahweh, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled.
I cried to you, Yahweh. I made supplication to the Lord:
30:9
Quae utilitas in sanguine meo, dum descendo in corruptionem ? numquid confitebitur tibi pulvis, aut annuntiabit veritatem tuam ?
“What profit is there in my destruction, if I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? Shall it declare your truth?
Hear, Yahweh, and have mercy on me. Yahweh, be my helper.”
30:11
Convertisti planctum meum in gaudium mihi ; conscidisti saccum meum, et circumdedisti me laetitia :
You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,
Domine Deus meus, in aeternum confitebor tibi.
to the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent. Yahweh my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
