Thus said the Lord: Stand in the court of the Lord's house and declare to all the Judeans and to all who come to worship in the Lord's house all the words which I commanded you to declare to them; do not take away a word.
Perhaps they will listen and each will turn back from his evil way, and I will cease from the evils which I am purposing to do to them because of their evil practices.
so as to hearken to the words of my servants the prophets whom I am sending to you early in the morning, and I sent them and you did not hearken to me,
And it happened, when Jeremiah had ceased speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the false prophets and all the people seized him, saying: You shall surely die!
Because you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying: This house shall be like Selom, and this city shall be made desolate of inhabitants. And all the people were assembled against Jeremiah in the house of the Lord.
And the rulers of Iouda heard this word, and they went up from the king's house to the house of the Lord and sat in the entrance of the new gate of the Lord.
And the priests and the false prophets said to the rulers and to all the people: A sentence of death for this man, because he prophesied against this city, just as you have heard with your ears.
And Jeremiah said to the rulers and to all the people, saying: The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all these words which you have heard.
And now make your ways and your deeds better, and listen to the voice of the Lord, and the Lord will cease from the evils which he has spoken against you.

And they brought him out from there and brought him to the king; and he struck him down with a sword and cast him into the burial place of the sons of his people.
