Then the Lord said to me: Go and acquire a molded earthen flask, and you shall bring some of the elders of the people and of the elders of the priests.
And you shall go out to the burial place of the sons of their children, which is at the entrance of the gate of Charsith, and read there all the words that I shall speak to you.
And you shall say to them: Hear the word of the Lord, kings of Judah and men of Judah and those who dwell in Jerusalem and those who enter in by these gates. Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing evils upon this place, so that both ears of everyone who hears them shall ring.

And they shall eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and each one shall eat the flesh of his neighbor, in the siege and in the blockade with which their enemies shall besiege them.
And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah shall be like the place of uncleannesses that is falling down — all the houses in which they burned incense on their roofs to all the host of heaven and poured out drink offerings to foreign gods.
And Jeremiah came from the place of ruin, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the court of the house of the Lord and said to all the people:
Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am bringing upon this city and upon all her cities and upon her villages all the evils that I spoke against her, because they stiffened their neck so as not to listen to my words.
