And it came to pass in the days of Achaz son of Joatham, son of Ozias king of Judah, that Raasson king of Aram and Phakee son of Romelias king of Israel went up against Jerusalem to make war on it, but they were not able to besiege it.

And it was reported to the house of David, saying: Aram has agreed with Ephraim. And his soul was shaken, and the soul of his people, as when in a forest a tree is shaken by the wind.

And the Lord said to Esaias: Go out to meet Achaz, you and your son Iasoub who was left behind, to the pool of the upper road of the fuller's field.

And you shall say to him: Take care to keep quiet, and do not fear, nor let your soul be faint because of these two smoking firebrands of wood; for when the anger of my wrath comes to pass, I will heal again.

7:6▷ ⧉ ⤴︎

But the head of Aram is Damascus; yet in sixty-five years more the kingdom of Ephraim shall cease from being a people.
7:9▷ ⧉ ⤴︎

And the head of Ephraim is Somoron, and the head of Somoron is the son of Romelias. And if you do not believe, neither will you understand.

7:12▷ ⧉ ⤴︎

And he said: Hear now, O house of David; is it a small thing for you to contend with men? And how is it that you contend with the Lord?
7:14▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and you shall call his name Emmanouel.

Butter and honey shall he eat; before he knows how to prefer evil, he shall choose the good.
7:16▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
For before the child knows good or evil, he refuses wickedness so as to choose the good; and the land which you fear shall be forsaken from before the two kings.
7:17▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
But God shall bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father's house days such as have not yet come, from the day that Ephraim took away the king of the Assyrians from Iouda.

In that day the Lord shall shave with the great and drunken razor — that is, the king of the Assyrians from beyond the river — the head and the hair of the feet; and he shall take away the beard also.

And it shall come to pass in that day that every place where there are a thousand vines worth a thousand shekels shall become barren land and thorns.
7:24▷ ⧉ ⤴︎

And every mountain that is ploughed shall be ploughed, and no fear shall come there; for from being barren ground and thorns it shall become pasture for sheep and a trampling place for oxen.
