We made an announcement before him: he was like a little child, like a root in a thirsty land. He has no form nor glory; and we saw him, and he had no form nor beauty.
Rather, his form was dishonored, failing beyond all men, a man who was in affliction and knew how to bear sickness; because his face was turned away, he was dishonored and not reckoned of any account.
But he was wounded because of our lawless deeds and was made sick because of our sins. The discipline of our peace was upon him; by his bruise we were healed.
And he, because he was ill-treated, does not open his mouth; like a sheep he was led to the slaughter, and like a lamb voiceless before the one shearing it, so he does not open his mouth.
In his humiliation his judgment was taken away. Who shall describe his generation? For his life is taken from the earth; because of the lawless deeds of my people he was led to death.
And I will give the wicked in exchange for his burial, and the rich in exchange for his death; for he committed no lawlessness, nor was deceit found in his mouth.
And the Lord desires to cleanse him of his blow. If you offer an offering for sin, your soul shall see long-lived offspring; and the Lord desires to take away
from the travail of his soul, to show him light and to form him with understanding, to justify a righteous one who serves many well; and he himself shall bear up their sins.
Therefore he shall inherit many, and he shall divide the spoils of the strong, because his soul was handed over to death and he was reckoned among the lawless; and he bore the sins of many, and because of their sins he was handed over.
