📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

50:1
Thus says the Lord: What kind of bill of divorce of your mother is it, by which I sent her away? Or to which creditor have I sold you? Behold, for your sins you were sold, and for your lawless deeds I sent your mother away.
Why is it that I came and there was no man? I called and there was none who obeyed? Is my hand not strong enough to deliver, or am I not strong enough to rescue? Behold, by my rebuke I will make the sea desolate and turn rivers into deserts; their fish shall be dried up for lack of water and shall die of thirst.
And I will clothe the heaven with darkness and make sackcloth its covering.
The Lord gives me a tongue of instruction, to know in season when a word must be spoken. He appointed the morning for me; he added to me an ear to hear.
And the Lord's instruction opens my ears; and I do not disobey nor contradict.
I gave my back to scourges and my cheeks to blows; and I did not turn my face away from the shame of spittings.
And the Lord became my helper; therefore I was not put out of countenance, but I set my face like a solid rock, and I knew that I would not be put to shame.
For he who justified me draws near. Who is it that goes to law with me? Let him stand against me at once. And who is it that goes to law with me? Let him come near to me.
Behold, the Lord helps me; who will harm me? Behold, all of you shall wear out like a garment, and like a moth it shall devour you.
Who among you fears the Lord? Let him listen to the voice of his servant. You who walk in darkness and have no light, trust in the name of the Lord and lean upon God.
Behold, all of you kindle a fire and strengthen a flame. Walk in the light of your fire and in the flame you have kindled. These things have come to you because of me; you shall lie down in sorrow.
