📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

Come down, sit upon the ground, virgin daughter of Babylon; enter into the darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans, for you shall no longer be called tender and delicate.
I was provoked against my people; you defiled my inheritance. I gave them into your hand, but you showed them no mercy; on the aged you made the yoke exceedingly heavy.
But now hear this, you delicate one who sits secure, who says in her heart: I am, and there is no other; I shall not sit as a widow, nor shall I know the loss of children.
But now these two things shall come upon you suddenly in one day: widowhood and childlessness. They shall come upon you suddenly, in your sorcery, in the great strength of your enchanters,
in the hope of your wickedness. For you said: I am, and there is no other. Know that the understanding of these things and your fornication shall be your shame. And you said in your heart: I am, and there is no other.
And destruction shall come upon you, and you shall not know it; a pit — and you shall fall into it; and misery shall come upon you, and you shall not be able to become clean; and destruction shall come upon you suddenly, and you shall not know it.
You have grown weary in your counsels. Let the astrologers of heaven stand up and save you, those who watch the stars; let them announce to you what is about to come upon you.
Behold, they shall all be burned up like twigs on a fire, and they shall not deliver their soul from the flame; for you have coals of fire — sit upon them.
