📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

21:1
The vision of the wilderness. As a whirlwind might sweep through the wilderness, coming out of the wilderness, out of a land—a fearful thing.
A harsh vision was announced to me: the treacherous one deals treacherously, the lawless one acts lawlessly. Against me come the Ailamites and the ambassadors of the Persians. Now I will groan and comfort myself.
Therefore my loins are filled with faintness, and pangs have seized me like a woman in labour. I did wrong in not hearing; I hastened not to see.
My heart goes astray, and lawlessness overwhelms me; my soul stands in terror.
Prepare the table. Drink, eat. Rise up, you rulers, prepare shields!
For thus the Lord said to me: Go and set a watchman for yourself, and whatever you see, report it.
And I saw two mounted horsemen, a rider on a donkey and a rider on a camel. Listen with much listening,
and call Ourias to the watchtower of the Lord. And he said: I stood continually by day, and I stood at the camp all night long.
And behold, he himself is coming, a rider of a two-horse chariot; and answering he said: Babylon has fallen, and all her images and her handmade things have been shattered to the ground.
Hear, you who have been left behind, and you who are in pain; hear what I have heard from the Lord Sabaoth; the God of Israel has announced it to us.
The vision of Idoumea. From Seir one calls to me: Guard the battlements!
I keep watch in the morning and in the night. If you would seek, then seek; and dwell with me.
In the thicket you shall sleep at evening, on the road of Daidan.
Bring water to meet the thirsty, you who dwell in the land of Thaiman; meet the fugitives with loaves of bread.
because of the multitude of those fleeing, and because of the multitude of those wandering, and because of the multitude of the sword, and because of the multitude of the drawn arrows, and because of the multitude of those fallen in the war.
For thus the Lord said to me: Yet a year, as the year of a hired worker, and the glory of the sons of Kedar shall fail.
And the remnant of the arrows of the mighty sons of Kedar shall be few, for the Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken.
