“Speak to the sons of Israel, and let them turn back and encamp opposite the farmstead, between Magdolos and the sea, over against Beelsepphon; before them you shall encamp by the sea.
And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue after them; and I will be glorified in Pharaoh and in all his army, and all the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
And it was reported to the king of the Egyptians that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his attendants was turned against the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, sending the sons of Israel away from serving us?”
And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt and of his attendants, and he pursued after the sons of Israel; but the sons of Israel were going out with a high hand.
And the Egyptians pursued after them and found them encamped by the sea—all the cavalry and the chariots of Pharaoh, and the horsemen and his army—opposite the farmstead, over against Beelsepphon.
And Pharaoh drew near. And the sons of Israel, lifting up their eyes, see the Egyptians encamped behind them; and they were exceedingly afraid. And the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord.
And he said to Moses, Was it because there are no graves in the land of Egypt that you brought us out to be put to death in the wilderness? What is this that you have done to us, bringing us out of Egypt?
Is not this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, so that we may serve the Egyptians? For it is better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in this wilderness.
And Moses said to the people, Take courage, stand firm and see the salvation that is from God, which he will work for us today; for as you have seen the Egyptians today, you shall never see them again for all time.
14:14
κύριοςπολεμήσειπερὶὑμῶνκαὶὑμεῖςσιγήσετε
主必為你們爭戰,你們只管靜默。
The Lord will fight for you, and you shall keep silent.
And you, lift up with your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea and split it, and let the sons of Israel go into the midst of the sea on the dry ground.
And behold, I will harden the heart of Pharaoh and of all the Egyptians, and they shall go in after them; and I will be glorified in Pharaoh and in all his army, and in the chariots and in his horses.
And the angel of God who went before the camp of the sons of Israel moved and went to their rear; and the pillar of cloud also moved from before them and stood behind them.
And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel, and it stood; and there was darkness and gloom, and the night passed, and they did not come near one another all night long.
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a violent south wind all night, and he made the sea dry land, and the water was divided.
And it happened in the morning watch that the Lord looked upon the camp of the Egyptians in a pillar of fire and cloud, and he threw the camp of the Egyptians into confusion.
And he bound together the axles of their chariots and led them along with difficulty. And the Egyptians said, Let us flee from before Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.
And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea, and let the water be restored and cover the Egyptians, both the chariots and the riders.
And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and toward day the water was restored to its place; but the Egyptians fled beneath the water, and the Lord shook off the Egyptians into the midst of the sea.
And the water returned and covered the chariots and the riders and all the force of Pharaoh, those who had gone into the sea after them; and not even one of them was left.
And Israel saw the great hand, the things that the Lord did to the Egyptians; and the people feared the Lord, and they believed God and Moses his servant.
