Wine is unruly and strong drink insolent, and everyone who mixes himself with it will not be wise.
20:2
A king's threat differs in nothing from a lion's rage, and he who provokes him sins against his own soul.
20:3
It is a man's glory to turn away from abuse, but every fool gets entangled in such things.
20:4
The sluggard, when reproached, is not ashamed; and likewise he who borrows grain at harvest time.
20:5
Counsel in a man's heart is deep water, but a prudent man will draw it out.
20:6
A man is a great thing, and a merciful man a precious one; but to find a faithful man is a labor.
20:7
He who conducts himself blamelessly in righteousness will leave his children blessed.
20:8

When a righteous king sits upon a throne, nothing evil stands against him in his eyes.
20:9
Who will boast of having a pure heart, or who will speak out boldly that he is clean from sins? As for one who speaks evil of father or mother, his lamp will be put out, and the pupils of his eyes will see darkness. A portion hastily snatched at the first will not be blessed at the last. Do not say, "I will take vengeance on my enemy," but wait for the Lord, that he may help you.
20:10
A large weight and a small one, and double measures—both alike are unclean before the Lord.
20:11
And he who does these things will be tripped up in his practices; a young man who keeps company with a holy man—his way also is straight.
20:12
An ear that hears and an eye that sees—both alike are the Lord's works.

Do not love to speak against others, lest you be taken away; open your eyes and be filled with bread.

A double weight is an abomination to the Lord, and a deceitful balance is not good in his sight.
20:24
A man's steps are made straight by the Lord; how then could a mortal understand his own ways?
