ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

15:1
Then Eliphaz the Thaimanite answered and said:
Will a wise man give an answer that is of a spirit of understanding, and has he filled his belly with pain,
arguing with words that are not fitting, with speeches that are of no profit?
Have you not also cast off fear, and uttered such words before the Lord?
You are liable for the words of your mouth, nor have you discerned the words of the mighty.
Let your own mouth convict you, and not I; and your lips will testify against you.
What then? Were you the first of men to be born? Or were you formed before the hills?
Have you heard the Lord's ordinance? And has wisdom come to you?
For what do you know that we do not know? Or what do you understand that we do not also?
Among us there is both an aged man and one advanced in years, heavier in days than your father.
You have been scourged for few of your sins; yet you have spoken exceedingly, beyond measure.
What has your heart dared? Or what have your eyes brought on?
For you have burst out in rage before the Lord, and have brought such words out of your mouth.
For what is a mortal, that he should be blameless? Or one born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
If he puts no trust in his holy ones, and the heaven is not clean before him,
how much more an abominable and unclean man, who drinks in unrighteousness like a drink!
I will declare to you—listen to me—what I have seen I will declare to you,
things which wise men will tell, and they did not conceal their fathers,
to whom alone the land was given, and no foreigner came upon them.
The whole life of the ungodly is spent in anxiety, and the years given to the tyrant are numbered.
The dread of him is in his own ears; when he thinks he is already at peace, his destruction will come.
Let him not believe he will turn back from darkness, for he has already been consigned to the hands of iron.
He has been appointed as food for vultures; he knows within himself that he is destined to fall; a day of darkness will whirl him about.
Distress and affliction will seize him, like a general in the front rank falling.
For he has lifted his hands against the Lord, and has stiffened his neck before the Lord Almighty.
He ran against him with insolence, with the thick back of his shield.
For he has covered his face with his own fat, and made a roll of flesh upon his thighs.
May he lodge in desolate cities, and enter uninhabited houses; and what those men prepared, others will carry off.
He will not grow rich, nor will his possessions remain; he will cast no shadow upon the earth.
Nor will he escape the darkness; may the wind wither his shoot, and may his blossom fall.
Let him not believe that he will endure, for what befalls him will be empty.
His stump will rot before its time, and his shoot will not grow thick.
May he be plucked like an unripe grape before his time, and fall like the blossom of an olive tree.
For death is the testimony against the ungodly, and fire will burn the houses of those who take bribes.
He conceives pains, and what comes of it for him is empty, and his belly bears deceit.
