ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

9:1
Then Job answered and said:
Truly I know that it is so; for how shall a mortal be righteous before the Lord?
For if one should wish to go to law with him, he will not answer him, so that he cannot reply to one of his words out of a thousand.
For he is wise in mind, and mighty and great: who has become hard against him and endured?
He who makes mountains old, and they know it not; who overturns them in anger;
who shakes what is under heaven out of its foundations, and its pillars are shaken;
who speaks to the sun, and it does not rise, and he seals up the stars;
who alone stretched out the heaven, and walks on the sea as on solid ground;
who makes the Pleiades and Hesperus and Arcturus and the chambers of the south;
who does great and unsearchable things, glorious and extraordinary things, of which there is no number.
If he passes over me, I shall not see him; and if he goes by me, not even so did I know it.
If he takes away, who will turn him back? Or who will say to him, 'What have you done?'
For he himself has turned away wrath; beneath him the sea monsters under heaven were bowed down.
And if he should hearken to me, will he then examine my words?
For even if I am righteous, he will not listen to me; I will plead with his judgement.
And if I call and he answers, I do not believe that he has listened to me.
Lest he crush me with darkness; and he has multiplied my wounds without cause.
For he does not let me catch my breath, but has filled me with bitterness.
For in strength he prevails; who then shall withstand his judgement?
For if I am righteous, my own mouth will be ungodly; and if I am blameless, I shall turn out crooked.
For whether I have been ungodly I do not know in my soul; only that my life is being taken away.
Therefore I said: wrath destroys the great man and the mighty.
For the worthless perish by an extraordinary death, but the righteous are laughed to scorn.
For they are given over into the hands of an ungodly man; he covers the faces of its judges; and if it is not he, who is it?
But my life is swifter than a runner; they have fled away and have seen nothing.
Is there any trace of a path for ships, or for a flying eagle that seeks its food?
For if I say, 'I will forget,' then as I speak I bow my face and groan.
I tremble in all my limbs, for I know that you will not hold me innocent.
But since I am ungodly, why have I not died?
For if I wash myself with snow, and cleanse myself with clean hands,
you have dipped me deep enough in filth, and my robe has abhorred me.
For you are not a man like me, with whom I might contend, that we might come together to judgement.
Would that there were our mediator, one who reproves and hears between us both.
Let him take his rod away from me, and let not the fear of him terrify me.
Then I shall not be afraid, but I shall speak; for I am not conscious of being such.
