ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).
And though all those of your race knew these things to have been done by Jonah, and though Christ cried out among you that He would give you the sign of Jonah, exhorting you that even after His rising from the dead you should repent of the evils you had done, and like the Ninevites lament before God, so that your nation and city might not be taken and overthrown, as it has been overthrown—
and not only did you not repent when you learned that He had risen from the dead, but, as I said before, you chose out men and sent them throughout the whole world, proclaiming that a certain godless and lawless sect had arisen from one Jesus, a Galilean deceiver, whom we crucified, but His disciples stole Him by night from the tomb, where He was laid when He had been taken down from the cross, and now deceive men, saying that He has risen from the dead and ascended into heaven—and charging that He had taught those godless, lawless, and unholy things which you allege against all the human race to those who confess Him to be Christ, and a teacher, and the Son of God.
In addition to this, when your city has been taken and your land laid waste, you do not repent, but you even dare to curse Him and all who believe in Him. And we do not hate you, nor those who, on your account, have conceived such notions against us; rather we pray that even now you may all repent and obtain mercy from God, the compassionate and very merciful Father of all.
