And that this also may become plain to you, the following words were spoken from the person of the Father through Isaiah the aforementioned prophet: "The ox knew its owner, and the ass its master's crib; but Israel did not know me, and my people did not understand. And again in another place, when the same prophet speaks likewise from the person of the Father: "What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Heaven is my throne, and the earth is the footstool of my feet." And again elsewhere: "My soul hates your new moons and your sabbaths, and I cannot endure the great fast-day and the day of rest; nor, if you come to be seen by me, will I listen to you. Your hands are full of blood. Even if you bring fine flour and incense, it is an abomination to me; the fat of lambs and the blood of bulls I do not desire. For who has required these things from your hands? But loose every bond of injustice, tear apart the knots of forced contracts, shelter the homeless and the naked, break your bread to the hungry."
