And the two sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abioud, each took his censer, and they put fire on it and laid incense on it, and they offered before the Lord strange fire, which the Lord had not commanded them.
And Moses said to Aaron: This is what the Lord said, saying: Among those who draw near to me I will be sanctified, and in all the congregation I will be glorified. And Aaron was stricken to the heart.
And Moses called Misadai and Elisaphan, sons of Oziel, sons of the brother of Aaron's father, and said to them: Come forward and carry your brothers away from before the holy things, outside the camp.
And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his remaining sons: You shall not take the headdress off your head, nor shall you tear your garments, lest you die and wrath come upon the whole congregation; but your brothers, all the house of Israel, shall weep for the burning with which they were burned by the Lord.
And you shall not go out from the door of the tent of witness, lest you die; for the oil of anointing from the Lord is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.
You and your sons with you shall not drink wine or strong drink when you enter the tent of witness, or when you approach the altar, so that you may not die. This is a perpetual statute throughout your generations.
And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left: Take the offering that is left over from the offerings of the Lord, and eat it unleavened beside the altar; it is most holy.
And the breast of the separation and the arm of the removal you shall eat in a holy place, you and your sons and your household with you; for it has been given as your due and your sons' due from the sacrifices of deliverance of the sons of Israel.
The arm of the removal and the breast of the separation they shall bring upon the offerings of the fat pieces, to separate them as a separation before the Lord; and it shall belong to you and to your sons and to your daughters with you as a perpetual statute, just as the Lord instructed Moses.
And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it had been burned up. And Moses was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left, saying:
Why did you not eat the sin offering in a holy place? For it is most holy. He gave it to you to eat, so that you might take away the sin of the congregation and make atonement for them before the Lord.
And Aaron spoke to Moses, saying: Look, today they have brought their sin offerings and their whole burnt offerings before the Lord, and such things have happened to me; if I were to eat the sin offering today, would it be pleasing to the Lord?
