21:1
ὥσπερ ὁρμὴ ὕδατος οὕτως καρδία βασιλέως ἐν χειρὶ θεοῦ οὗ ἐὰν θέλων νεύσῃ ἐκεῖ ἔκλινεν αὐτήν
As a rush of water, so is a king's heart in the hand of God; wherever he wills to incline it, there he turned it.
王的心在神的手中,如同水的奔流;神願意向哪裡點頭示意,就使它偏向哪裡。
21:2
πᾶς ἀνὴρ φαίνεται ἑαυτῷ δίκαιος κατευθύνει δὲ καρδίας κύριος
Every man seems righteous to himself, but the Lord directs hearts.
人人看自己為義,主卻修直人心。
21:3
ποιεῖν δίκαια καὶ ἀληθεύειν ἀρεστὰ παρὰ θεῷ μᾶλλον ἢ θυσιῶν αἷμα
To do what is just and to speak truth is more pleasing to God than the blood of sacrifices.
行公義、說誠實話,在神面前比祭牲的血更蒙喜悅。
21:4
μεγαλόφρων ἐφ’ ὕβρει θρασυκάρδιος λαμπτὴρ δὲ ἀσεβῶν ἁμαρτία
One who is proud in insolence is bold of heart, and the lamp of the ungodly is sin.
在狂傲上心高氣傲的人是膽大妄為的;不敬虔之人的燈就是罪。
21:6
ὁ ἐνεργῶν θησαυρίσματα γλώσσῃ ψευδεῖ μάταια διώκει ἐπὶ παγίδας θανάτου
He who works up treasures with a lying tongue pursues vanities into the snares of death.
用虛謊的舌頭積聚財寶的人,是追逐虛空,直奔死亡的網羅。
21:7
ὄλεθρος ἀσεβέσιν ἐπιξενωθήσεται οὐ γὰρ βούλονται πράσσειν τὰ δίκαια
Destruction will lodge with the ungodly, for they refuse to do what is just.
毀滅必寄居在不敬虔的人那裡,因為他們不肯行公義的事。
21:8
πρὸς τοὺς σκολιοὺς σκολιὰς ὁδοὺς ἀποστέλλει ὁ θεός ἁγνὰ γὰρ καὶ ὀρθὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ
God sends crooked ways to the crooked, for his own works are pure and upright.
神向乖僻的人發出乖僻的道路,因為他自己的作為是純潔正直的。
21:9
κρεῖσσον οἰκεῖν ἐπὶ γωνίας ὑπαίθρου ἢ ἐν κεκονιαμένοις μετὰ ἀδικίας καὶ ἐν οἴκῳ κοινῷ
Better to dwell in a corner in the open air than in plastered rooms with injustice and in a shared house.
寧可住在露天的屋角,也不願住在粉飾的房屋中與不義同處、共居一家。
21:10
ψυχὴ ἀσεβοῦς οὐκ ἐλεηθήσεται ὑπ’ οὐδενὸς τῶν ἀνθρώπων
The soul of an ungodly man will be shown mercy by no one among men.
不敬虔之人的魂,必不得人中任何一個的憐憫。
21:11
ζημιουμένου ἀκολάστου πανουργότερος γίνεται ὁ ἄκακος συνίων δὲ σοφὸς δέξεται γνῶσιν
When an unruly man is punished, the innocent becomes more shrewd; and a wise man, when he understands, will receive knowledge.
放蕩的人受罰,天真的人就變得精明;智慧人領悟時,就接受知識。
21:12
συνίει δίκαιος καρδίας ἀσεβῶν καὶ φαυλίζει ἀσεβεῖς ἐν κακοῖς
A righteous man understands the hearts of the ungodly, and he holds the ungodly in contempt in their evils.
義人明白不敬虔之人的心,也在他們的惡事上輕看不敬虔的人。
21:13
ὃς φράσσει τὰ ὦτα τοῦ μὴ ἐπακοῦσαι ἀσθενοῦς καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπικαλέσεται καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ εἰσακούων
He who stops his ears so as not to hear the weak will himself call out, and there will be no one who listens.
塞住耳朵不聽軟弱人呼求的,他自己呼求時也無人垂聽。
21:14
δόσις λάθριος ἀνατρέπει ὀργάς δώρων δὲ ὁ φειδόμενος θυμὸν ἐγείρει ἰσχυρόν
A gift given in secret overturns anger, but he who is sparing of gifts stirs up strong wrath.
暗中的餽贈平息怒氣,吝於送禮的卻激起強烈的忿怒。
21:15
εὐφροσύνη δικαίων ποιεῖν κρίμα ὅσιος δὲ ἀκάθαρτος παρὰ κακούργοις
To execute judgment is joy for the righteous, but the holy man is unclean in the eyes of evildoers.
秉行公義是義人的喜樂;聖潔的人在作惡的人眼中卻是不潔的。
21:16
ἀνὴρ πλανώμενος ἐξ ὁδοῦ δικαιοσύνης ἐν συναγωγῇ γιγάντων ἀναπαύσεται
A man who wanders from the way of righteousness will come to rest in the assembly of giants.
偏離公義道路的人,必安歇在巨人的會中。
21:17
ἀνὴρ ἐνδεὴς ἀγαπᾷ εὐφροσύνην φιλῶν οἶνον καὶ ἔλαιον εἰς πλοῦτον
A man in want loves merriment, loving wine and oil with a view to wealth.
缺乏的人喜愛宴樂,又愛酒與油,指望得著財富。
21:18
περικάθαρμα δὲ δικαίου ἄνομος
The lawless man is an offscouring in place of the righteous.
不法的人是為義人被除去的污穢。
21:19
κρεῖσσον οἰκεῖν ἐν γῇ ἐρήμῳ ἢ μετὰ γυναικὸς μαχίμου καὶ γλωσσώδους καὶ ὀργίλου
Better to dwell in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and talkative and irritable woman.
寧可住在曠野之地,也不願與好爭吵、多言、易怒的婦人同住。
21:20
θησαυρὸς ἐπιθυμητὸς ἀναπαύσεται ἐπὶ στόματος σοφοῦ ἄφρονες δὲ ἄνδρες καταπίονται αὐτόν
A desirable treasure will rest upon the mouth of a wise man, but foolish men will swallow it down.
可羨慕的財寶安歇在智慧人的口上,愚昧人卻要把它吞盡。
21:21
ὁδὸς δικαιοσύνης καὶ ἐλεημοσύνης εὑρήσει ζωὴν καὶ δόξαν
The way of righteousness and mercy will find life and glory.
公義與憐憫的道路必尋得生命與榮耀。
21:22
πόλεις ὀχυρὰς ἐπέβη σοφὸς καὶ καθεῖλεν τὸ ὀχύρωμα ἐφ’ ᾧ ἐπεποίθεισαν οἱ ἀσεβεῖς
A wise man went up against fortified cities and pulled down the stronghold in which the ungodly had trusted.
智慧人攻上堅固的城,拆毀不敬虔之人所倚靠的堡壘。
21:23
ὃς φυλάσσει τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν γλῶσσαν διατηρεῖ ἐκ θλίψεως τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ
He who guards his mouth and keeps watch over his tongue preserves his soul from affliction.
謹守自己的口、看守舌頭的人,保全自己的魂脫離患難。
21:24
θρασὺς καὶ αὐθάδης καὶ ἀλαζὼν λοιμὸς καλεῖται ὃς δὲ μνησικακεῖ παράνομος
The bold and self-willed and boastful man is called a plague, and he who nurses a grudge is lawless.
狂妄、任性、自誇的人被稱為瘟疫;懷恨記仇的人是不法的。
21:25
ἐπιθυμίαι ὀκνηρὸν ἀποκτείνουσιν οὐ γὰρ προαιροῦνται αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ποιεῖν τι
Desires kill the sluggard, for his hands refuse to do anything.
貪慾殺死懶惰人,因為他的手不肯動工。
21:26
ἀσεβὴς ἐπιθυμεῖ ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν ἐπιθυμίας κακάς ὁ δὲ δίκαιος ἐλεᾷ καὶ οἰκτίρει ἀφειδῶς
The ungodly man craves evil desires all day long, but the righteous shows mercy and compassion unsparingly.
不敬虔的人終日貪戀惡慾,義人卻毫不吝惜地施憐憫、動慈心。
21:27
θυσίαι ἀσεβῶν βδέλυγμα κυρίῳ καὶ γὰρ παρανόμως προσφέρουσιν αὐτάς
The sacrifices of the ungodly are an abomination to the Lord, for they offer them lawlessly.
不敬虔之人的祭物為主所憎惡,因為他們是不法地獻上的。
21:28
μάρτυς ψευδὴς ἀπολεῖται ἀνὴρ δὲ ὑπήκοος φυλασσόμενος λαλήσει
A false witness will perish, but an obedient man who keeps watch over himself will speak.
作假見證的必滅亡,聽從而謹慎的人卻能開口說話。
21:29
ἀσεβὴς ἀνὴρ ἀναιδῶς ὑφίσταται προσώπῳ ὁ δὲ εὐθὴς αὐτὸς συνίει τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ
An ungodly man shamelessly braces his face, but the upright man himself understands his own ways.
不敬虔的人厚著臉皮強撐,正直人卻自己明白自己的道路。
21:30
οὐκ ἔστιν σοφία οὐκ ἔστιν ἀνδρεία οὐκ ἔστιν βουλὴ πρὸς τὸν ἀσεβῆ
There is no wisdom, there is no courage, there is no counsel in the ungodly.
對不敬虔的人而言,沒有智慧,沒有勇力,也沒有計謀。
21:31
ἵππος ἑτοιμάζεται εἰς ἡμέραν πολέμου παρὰ δὲ κυρίου ἡ βοήθεια
A horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the help is from the Lord.
馬是為打仗的日子預備的,幫助卻是從主而來。
