ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

17:1
Better a morsel with enjoyment in peace than a house full of many good things and unjust sacrifices with strife.
A sensible household servant will rule over foolish masters, and among brothers he will divide portions.
As silver and gold are tested in a furnace, so hearts are chosen by the Lord.
An evil man listens to the tongue of the lawless, but a righteous man pays no heed to lying lips.
He who laughs at the poor provokes the one who made him, and he who gloats over one perishing will not go unpunished; but he who is moved with compassion will be shown mercy.
Children's children are the crown of the aged, and fathers are the boast of children. To the faithful belongs the whole world of wealth, but to the unfaithful not even a penny.
Faithful lips do not suit a fool, nor lying lips a righteous man.
Instruction is a reward of favors to those who use it, and wherever it turns it will prosper.
He who conceals wrongs seeks friendship, but he who hates to conceal separates friends and kinsfolk.
A threat crushes the heart of the prudent, but a fool, though flogged, feels nothing.
Every evil man stirs up disputes, but the Lord will send out an unmerciful messenger against him.
Anxiety will fall upon a sensible man, but fools will reason out evils.
From the house of him who repays evils for good things, evils will not depart.
The beginning of righteousness gives authority to words, but discord and fighting go before want.
He who judges the unjust to be just and the just to be unjust is unclean and abominable before God.
Why does a fool have money, since the heartless cannot acquire wisdom? He who makes his own house high seeks destruction, and he who swerves from learning will fall into evils.
Let a friend be yours at every season, and let brothers be useful in times of need, for it is for this that they are born.
A foolish man claps his hands and congratulates himself, just like one who goes surety with a pledge for his friend.
A lover of sin delights in fights.
But the hard-hearted man does not meet with good things, and a man fickle in tongue will fall into evils.
The heart of a fool is grief to the one who possesses it. A father does not rejoice over an undisciplined son, but a prudent son gladdens his mother.
A gladdened heart makes for good health, but the bones of a sorrowful man dry up.
The ways of one who unjustly receives gifts in his bosom do not prosper, and the ungodly man turns aside the ways of righteousness.
The face of a wise man shows understanding, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.
A foolish son is anger to his father and grief to her who bore him.
To fine a righteous man is not good, nor is it holy to plot against righteous rulers.
He who refrains from uttering a harsh word is discerning, and a patient man is prudent.
To a senseless man who asks about wisdom, wisdom will be reckoned; and anyone who makes himself mute will seem to be prudent.
