Dixi cum Patrc Filio aequalem gloriam honoremque nos dicere : quia legimus , Ut omnis lingua confiteatur quod Dominus Jesus Christus in gloria est Dei Patris (Ibid .). Si tantummodo dixisset in Dei , forte putaretur , esto in Dei , certe minoris ; at cum in Patris gloria , quid inaequale ? quid exiguum ? quid divisum ? Non enim in angelica vel humana , sed in gloria est Dei Patris . Afias autem , nisi aequalis gloria ista credatur , contra ipsius Domini jussionem (Joan . v , 23), non omnes sic honorificabunt Filium , sicut honorificant Patrem . Nulla enim ratione sic honorari poterit major ut minor .
I said that we declare the Son to be equal to the Father in glory and honor: because we read, «That every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father» (Ibid.). Had he said only «in the glory of God,» perhaps it might be thought—granted, in the glory of God, yet certainly of a lesser one; but when he says «in the glory of the Father,» what is unequal? what is scant? what is divided? For it is not in an angelic or human glory, but «in the glory of God the Father.» But otherwise, unless that glory be believed to be equal, contrary to the very command of the Lord (John 5:23), not all will so honor the Son as they honor the Father. For by no reasoning can the greater be so honored as the lesser.
我曾說，我們宣稱子在榮耀與尊榮上與父同等：因為我們讀到：「叫萬口都承認主耶穌基督在父神的榮耀裡」（同上）。若他只說「在神的榮耀裡」，或許有人會以為——就算是在神的榮耀裡，卻必定是較小之神的榮耀；但當他說「在父的榮耀裡」，還有何不同等？有何欠缺？有何分割？因為這不是在天使或人的榮耀裡，乃是「在父神的榮耀裡」。否則，若不信這榮耀是同等的，那麼違背主自己的命令（約五23），並非眾人都會如尊敬父那樣尊敬子。因為按任何道理，尊者都不可能被當作卑者那樣受尊敬。

Sed quicunque non sic honorificaverit Filium sicut honorificat Patrem , quidquid gloriæ dempserit , contumeliæ deputavit .
But whoever shall not so honor the Son as he honors the Father, whatever of glory he has taken away, he has reckoned as contumely.
