📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

And you, son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, Thus says the Lord: Because your heart was lifted up and you said, I am a god, I have occupied a dwelling of God in the heart of the sea — yet you are a man and not a god, and you made your heart as the heart of a god.
on account of this, behold, I am bringing upon you strangers, pestilent ones from the nations; and they shall unsheathe their swords against you and against the beauty of your knowledge, and they shall lay your beauty low unto destruction.
You came to be in the luxury of the paradise of God; with every precious stone you were adorned — sardius and topaz and emerald and carbuncle and sapphire and jasper and silver and gold and ligure and agate and amethyst and chrysolite and beryl and onyx — and with gold you filled your treasuries and your storehouses within you, from the day you were created.
From the abundance of your trade you filled your storerooms with lawlessness, and you sinned; and you were wounded from the mountain of God, and the cherub led you out from the midst of the stones of fire.
Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; your knowledge was corrupted along with your beauty. Because of the multitude of your sins I cast you down to the ground; before kings I gave you to be made an example.
Because of the multitude of your sins and of the iniquities of your trade, you profaned your sanctuaries; and I will bring out fire from your midst — this shall devour you — and I will make you ashes upon your own land, before the eyes of all who see you.
and say, Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am against you, O Sidon, and I will be glorified in you. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I execute judgements in you and am sanctified in you.
And there shall no longer be for the house of Israel a thorn of bitterness and a briar of pain, from all those round about them who dishonoured them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
Thus says the Lord the Lord: I will also gather Israel from the nations where they were scattered, and I will be sanctified in them before the peoples and the nations; and they shall dwell upon their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob.
And they shall dwell upon it in hope, and they shall build houses and plant vineyards, and they shall dwell in hope, when I execute judgement on all who dishonoured them among those round about them; and they shall know that I am the Lord their God and the God of their fathers.
