📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

You shall not sacrifice to the Lord your God a calf or a sheep in which there is a blemish, any evil thing, for it is an abomination to the Lord your God.
But if there is found among you, in one of your cities which the Lord your God gives you, a man or a woman who does what is evil before the Lord your God, so as to transgress his covenant,
And the hand of the witnesses shall be upon him first, to put him to death, and the hand of all the people last; and you shall remove the evil from among your own selves.
But if a matter in judgment is too hard for you, between blood and blood, and between judgment and judgment, and between plague and plague, and between dispute and dispute, matters of judgment in your cities, then you shall arise and go up to the place which the Lord your God may choose for his name to be called upon there.
And you shall come to the priests, the Levites, and to the judge who is in those days, and having searched it out they shall declare to you the judgment.
And you shall act according to the matter which they declare to you from the place which the Lord your God may choose for his name to be called upon there, and you shall be very careful to do according to all that is laid down as law for you.
According to the law and according to the judgment which they tell you, you shall act; you shall not turn aside from the word which they declare to you, to the right or to the left.
And the man who acts in arrogance so as not to obey the priest who stands to minister in the name of the Lord your God, or the judge who is in those days, that man shall die, and you shall remove the evil from Israel.
But when you enter into the land which the Lord your God gives you as an allotment, and you inherit it and dwell in it, and you say: I will set over myself a ruler, just as also the rest of the nations around me,
you shall surely set over yourself a ruler whom the Lord your God chooses; from among your brothers you shall set a ruler over yourself; you shall not be able to set over yourself a foreign man, because he is not your brother.
Only, he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he turn the people back to Egypt so as to multiply horses for himself; for the Lord said: You shall not again return by this way any more.
And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all these commandments and to do these ordinances,
so that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandments to the right or the left, so that he may continue long in his rule, he and his sons among the sons of Israel.
