1 Chronicles 27

And the sons of Israel according to their number: heads of ancestral houses, commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and scribes, who served the people and attended to every matter of the king, by divisions, for every matter of those coming in and going out, month by month, for all the months of the year: each division twenty-four thousand.

And over the first division, for the first month, was Jesboam son of Zabdiel, and in his division twenty-four thousand.

He was from the sons of Phares, chief of all the commanders of the army for the first month.

And over the division of the second month was Dodias the Echochite, and in his division twenty-four thousand, commanders of the army.

The third, for the third month, was Banaias son of Jodae the priest, the chief; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

This Banaias was mightier than the thirty and over the thirty; and over his division was Amizabath his son.

The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asael the brother of Joab, and Zabdias his son and the brothers; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

The fifth, for the fifth month, was the leader Samaoth the Jesraite; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

The sixth, for the sixth month, was Odouias son of Ekkes the Thekoite; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

The seventh, for the seventh month, was Chelles from Phallous, of the sons of Ephraim; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sobochai the Isathite, of Zarai; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer from Anathoth, of the land of Benjamin; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

The tenth, for the tenth month, was Meera from Netouphat, of Zarai; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Banaias from Pharathon, of the sons of Ephraim; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Choldai the Netophathite, of Gothoniel; and in his division twenty-four thousand.

And over the tribes of Israel: for Roubein, the leader was Eliezer son of Zechri; for Symeon, Saphatias son of Maacha;

for Leui, Asabias son of Kamouel; for Aaron, Sadok;

for Judah, Eliab, one of David's brothers; for Issachar, Ambri son of Michael;

for Zaboulon, Samaias son of Abdias; for Nephthali, Jerimoth son of Esriel;

for Ephraim, Hose son of Ozias; for the half-tribe of Manasse, Joel son of Phadaia;

for the half-tribe of Manasse that is in Galaad, Jaddai son of Zabdias; for the sons of Benjamin, Asiel son of Abenner;

for Dan, Azarael son of Joram. These were the patriarchs of the tribes of Israel.

And David did not take their number from twenty years old and under, because the Lord had said he would multiply Israel like the stars of heaven.

And Joab son of Sarouia began to number among the people, but did not finish; and wrath came upon Israel because of this, and the number was not recorded in the book of the chronicles of King David.

And over the treasuries of the king was Asmoth son of Odiel; and over the treasuries in the field and in the villages and in the settlements and in the towers was Jonathan son of Ozias.

And over those who tilled the land, the labourers, was Esdri son of Choloub.

And over the estates was Semei from Rama; and over the treasuries of wine in the estates was Zachri son of Sephni.

And over the olive groves and over the sycamores in the plain was Balanas the Gedorite; and over the treasuries of oil was Joas.

And over the grazing herds in Asidon was Satrais the Saronite; and over the herds in the valleys was Sophat son of Adli.

And over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the donkeys was Jadias from Merathon.

And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagarite. All these were stewards of the possessions of David the king.

And Jonathan, David's uncle, was a counsellor, a man of understanding, and he was a scribe; and Iiel son of Achamani was with the king's sons.

And Achitophel was the king's counsellor; and Chousi was the king's first friend.

And after this Achitophel, next in order was Jodae son of Banaias, and Abiathar; and Joab was the king's commander-in-chief.
