Nunc autem derident me juniores tempore , quorum non dignabar patres ponere cum canibus gregis mei :
“But now those who are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I considered unworthy to put with my sheep dogs.
但如今,比我年少的人戲笑我; 其人之父我曾藐視, 不肯安在看守我羊群的狗中。

quorum virtus manuum mihi erat pro nihilo , et vita ipsa putabantur indigni :
Of what use is the strength of their hands to me, men in whom ripe age has perished?
他們壯年的氣力既已衰敗, 其手之力與我何益呢?

egestate et fame steriles , qui rodebant in solitudine , squallentes calamitate et miseria .
They are gaunt from lack and famine. They gnaw the dry ground, in the gloom of waste and desolation.
他們因窮乏飢餓,身體枯瘦, 在荒廢淒涼的幽暗中齦乾燥之地,

Et mandebant herbas , et arborum cortices , et radix juniperorum erat cibus eorum :
They pluck salt herbs by the bushes. The roots of the broom tree are their food.
在草叢之中採鹹草, 羅騰 的根為他們的食物。

qui de convallibus ista rapientes , cum singula reperissent , ad ea cum clamore currebant .
They are driven out from among men. They cry after them as after a thief,
他們從人中被趕出; 人追喊他們如賊一般,

In desertis habitabant torrentium , et in cavernis terrae , vel super glaream :
so that they live in frightful valleys, and in holes of the earth and of the rocks.
以致他們住在荒谷之間, 在地洞和巖穴中;

qui inter hujuscemodi laetabantur , et esse sub sentibus delicias computabant :
They bray among the bushes. They are gathered together under the nettles.
在草叢中叫喚, 在荊棘下聚集。

filii stultorum et ignobilium , et in terra penitus non parentes .
They are children of fools, yes, children of wicked men. They were flogged out of the land.
這都是愚頑下賤人的兒女; 他們被鞭打,趕出境外。

Nunc in eorum canticum versus sum , et factus sum eis in proverbium .
“Now I have become their song. Yes, I am a byword to them.
現在這些人以我為歌曲, 以我為笑談。

Abominantur me , et longe fugiunt a me , et faciem meam conspuere non verentur .
They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, and don’t hesitate to spit in my face.
他們厭惡我,躲在旁邊站着, 不住地吐唾沫在我臉上。

Pharetram enim suam aperuit , et afflixit me , et frenum posuit in os meum .
For he has untied his cord, and afflicted me; and they have thrown off restraint before me.
鬆開他們的繩索苦待我, 在我面前脫去轡頭。

Ad dexteram orientis calamitates meae illico surrexerunt : pedes meos subverterunt , et oppresserunt quasi fluctibus semitis suis .
On my right hand rise the rabble. They thrust aside my feet. They cast their ways of destruction up against me.
這等下流人在我右邊起來, 推開我的腳,築成戰路來攻擊我。

Dissipaverunt itinera mea ; insidiati sunt mihi , et praevaluerunt : et non fuit qui ferret auxilium .
They mar my path. They promote my destruction without anyone’s help.
這些無人幫助的, 毀壞我的道,加增我的災。

Quasi rupto muro , et aperta janua , irruerunt super me , et ad meas miserias devoluti sunt .
As through a wide breach they come. They roll themselves in amid the ruin.
他們來如同闖進大破口, 在毀壞之間滾在我身上。

Redactus sum in nihilum : abstulisti quasi ventus desiderium meum , et velut nubes pertransiit salus mea .
Terrors have turned on me. They chase my honor as the wind. My welfare has passed away as a cloud.
驚恐臨到我, 驅逐我的尊榮如風; 我的福祿如雲過去。

Nunc autem in memetipso marcescit anima mea , et possident me dies afflictionis .
“Now my soul is poured out within me. Days of affliction have taken hold of me.
現在我心極其悲傷; 困苦的日子將我抓住。

Nocte os meum perforatur doloribus , et qui me comedunt , non dormiunt .
In the night season my bones are pierced in me, and the pains that gnaw me take no rest.
夜間,我裏面的骨頭刺我, 疼痛不止,好像齦我。

In multitudine eorum consumitur vestimentum meum , et quasi capitio tunicae succinxerunt me .
My garment is disfigured by great force. It binds me about as the collar of my tunic.
因上帝的大力,我的外衣污穢不堪, 又如裏衣的領子將我纏住。

Comparatus sum luto , et assimilatus sum favillae et cineri .
He has cast me into the mire. I have become like dust and ashes.
上帝把我扔在淤泥中, 我就像塵土和爐灰一般。

Clamo ad te , et non exaudis me : sto , et non respicis me .
I cry to you, and you do not answer me. I stand up, and you gaze at me.
主啊,我呼求你,你不應允我; 我站起來,你就定睛看我。

Mutatus es mihi in crudelem , et in duritia manus tuae adversaris mihi .
You have turned to be cruel to me. With the might of your hand you persecute me.
你向我變心,待我殘忍, 又用大能追逼我,

Elevasti me , et quasi super ventum ponens ; elisisti me valide .
You lift me up to the wind, and drive me with it. You dissolve me in the storm.
把我提在風中,使我駕風而行, 又使我消滅在烈風中。

Scio quia morti trades me , ubi constituta est domus omni viventi .
For I know that you will bring me to death, to the house appointed for all living.
我知道要使我臨到死地, 到那為眾生所定的陰宅。

Verumtamen non ad consumptionem eorum emittis manum tuam : et si corruerint , ipse salvabis .
“However doesn’t one stretch out a hand in his fall? Or in his calamity therefore cry for help?
然而,人仆倒豈不伸手? 遇災難豈不求救呢?

Flebam quondam super eo qui afflictus erat , et compatiebatur anima mea pauperi .
Didn’t I weep for him who was in trouble? Wasn’t my soul grieved for the needy?
人遭難,我豈不為他哭泣呢? 人窮乏,我豈不為他憂愁呢?

Expectabam bona , et venerunt mihi mala : praestolabar lucem , et eruperunt tenebrae .
When I looked for good, then evil came. When I waited for light, darkness came.
我仰望得好處,災禍就到了; 我等待光明,黑暗便來了。

Interiora mea efferbuerunt absque ulla requie : praevenerunt me dies afflictionis .
My heart is troubled, and doesn’t rest. Days of affliction have come on me.
我心裏煩擾不安, 困苦的日子臨到我身。

Moerens incedebam sine furore ; consurgens , in turba clamabam .
I go mourning without the sun. I stand up in the assembly, and cry for help.
我沒有日光就哀哭行去 ; 我在會中站着求救。

Frater fui draconum , et socius struthionum .
I am a brother to jackals, and a companion to ostriches.
我與野狗為弟兄, 與鴕鳥為同伴。

Cutis mea denigrata est super me , et ossa mea aruerunt prae caumate .
My skin grows black and peels from me. My bones are burned with heat.
我的皮膚黑而脫落; 我的骨頭因熱燒焦。

Versa est in luctum cithara mea , et organum meum in vocem flentium .
Therefore my harp has turned to mourning, and my pipe into the voice of those who weep.
所以,我的琴音變為悲音; 我的簫聲變為哭聲。
