30:1
וְעַתָּ֤ה׀ שָׂ֥חֲק֣וּ עָלַי֮ צְעִירִ֥ים מִמֶּ֗נִּי לְיָ֫מִ֥ים אֲשֶׁר־מָאַ֥סְתִּי אֲבוֹתָ֑ם לָ֝שִׁ֗ית עִם־כַּלְבֵ֥י צֹאנִֽי׃
νυνὶ δὲ κατεγέλασάν μου ἐλάχιστοι νῦν νουθετοῦσίν με ἐν μέρει ὧν ἐξουδένουν πατέρας αὐτῶν οὓς οὐχ ἡγησάμην εἶναι ἀξίους κυνῶν τῶν ἐμῶν νομάδων
Nunc autem derident me juniores tempore, quorum non dignabar patres ponere cum canibus gregis mei :
ወይእዜሰ፡ ትሑታን፡ ይስሕቁኒ፡ ዮምሰ፡ ባሕቲቶሙ፡ ይምዕዱኒ፡ እለ፡ መነንክዎሙ፡ ለአበዎሆሙ፡ ወእለ፡ ኢሐሰብክዎሙ፡ ወኢከመ፡ ከለባተ፡ መራዕይየ።
“But now those who are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I considered unworthy to put with my sheep dogs.
30:2
גַּם־כֹּ֣חַ יְ֭דֵיהֶם לָ֣מָּה לִּ֑י עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ אָ֣בַד כָּֽלַח׃
καί γε ἰσχὺς χειρῶν αὐτῶν ἵνα τί μοι ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἀπώλετο συντέλεια
quorum virtus manuum mihi erat pro nihilo, et vita ipsa putabantur indigni :
ወለምንት፡ ሊተ፡ ኀይለ፡ እዴሆሙ፡ ወይምጻእ፡ ሞት፡ ላዕሌሆሙ።
Of what use is the strength of their hands to me, men in whom ripe age has perished?
30:3
בְּחֶ֥סֶר וּבְכָפָ֗ן גַּ֫לְמ֥וּד הַעֹרְקִ֥ים צִיָּ֑ה אֶ֝֗מֶשׁ שׁוֹאָ֥ה וּמְשֹׁאָֽה׃
ἐν ἐνδείᾳ καὶ λιμῷ ἄγονος οἱ φεύγοντες ἄνυδρον ἐχθὲς συνοχὴν καὶ ταλαιπωρίαν
egestate et fame steriles, qui rodebant in solitudine, squallentes calamitate et miseria.
ወያስተፍእሙ፡ እምረኃብ፡ እንዘ፡ ይልሕሱ፡ እለ፡ ያመስጡ፡ እምእደ፡ በድው፡ ትማልማ፡ በሥራኅ፡ ወበኃሣር።
They are gaunt from lack and famine. They gnaw the dry ground, in the gloom of waste and desolation.
30:4
הַקֹּטְפִ֣ים מַלּ֣וּחַ עֲלֵי־שִׂ֑יחַ וְשֹׁ֖רֶשׁ רְתָמִ֣ים לַחְמָֽם׃
οἱ περικλῶντες ἅλιμα ἐπὶ ἠχοῦντι οἵτινες ἅλιμα ἦν αὐτῶν τὰ σῖτα ἄτιμοι δὲ καὶ πεφαυλισμένοι ἐνδεεῖς παντὸς ἀγαθοῦ οἳ καὶ ῥίζας ξύλων ἐμασῶντο ὑπὸ λιμοῦ μεγάλου
Et mandebant herbas, et arborum cortices, et radix juniperorum erat cibus eorum :
እለ፡ ይዋሕዩ፡ ወይሰእሉ፡ ወያስተፍእሙ፡ እለ፡ በተታሕሎ፡ የሐይዉ፡ ኅሡራን፡ ወዓማፅያን፡ ወዕኑሳን፡ እምኵሉ፡ ሠናያት፡ እለ፡ ሥርወ፡ ዕፅ፡ ይሜዕሩ፡ እምዐቢይ፡ ረኃብ።
They pluck salt herbs by the bushes. The roots of the broom tree are their food.
30:5
מִן־גֵּ֥ו יְגֹרָ֑שׁוּ יָרִ֥יעוּ עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ כַּגַּנָּֽב׃
ἐπανέστησάν μοι κλέπται
qui de convallibus ista rapientes, cum singula reperissent, ad ea cum clamore currebant.
ተንሥኡ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ሰረቅት፡ እለ፡ አብያቲሆሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ግበበ፡ ኰኵሕ።
They are driven out from among men. They cry after them as after a thief,
30:6
בַּעֲר֣וּץ נְחָלִ֣ים לִשְׁכֹּ֑ן חֹרֵ֖י עָפָ֣ר וְכֵפִֽים׃
ὧν οἱ οἶκοι αὐτῶν ἦσαν τρῶγλαι πετρῶν
In desertis habitabant torrentium, et in cavernis terrae, vel super glaream :
ወይዌውዑ፡ ማእከለ፡ መጽአሞ፡ ወይትኃኡ፡ ውስተ፡ ሣዕረ፡ ገዳም።
so that they live in frightful valleys, and in holes of the earth and of the rocks.
30:7
בֵּין־שִׂיחִ֥ים יִנְהָ֑קוּ תַּ֖חַת חָר֣וּל יְסֻפָּֽחוּ׃
ἀνὰ μέσον εὐήχων βοήσονται οἳ ὑπὸ φρύγανα ἄγρια διῃτῶντο
qui inter hujuscemodi laetabantur, et esse sub sentibus delicias computabant :
ዓብድ፡ ውሉድ፡ ወአልቦ፡ ስም፡ እስመ፡ ጥፉአን፡ እምድር፡ ወጥበብ፡ እንተ፡ ጠፍአት፡ እምድር።
They bray among the bushes. They are gathered together under the nettles.
30:8
בְּֽנֵי־נָ֭בָל גַּם־בְּנֵ֣י בְלִי־שֵׁ֑ם נִ֝כְּא֗וּ מִן־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
ἀφρόνων υἱοὶ καὶ ἀτίμων ὄνομα καὶ κλέος ἐσβεσμένον ἀπὸ γῆς
filii stultorum et ignobilium, et in terra penitus non parentes.
ወይእዜሰ፡ መሰንቆ፡ ኮንክዎሙ፡ ወአነ፡ መኃድምቶሙ።
They are children of fools, yes, children of wicked men. They were flogged out of the land.
30:9
וְ֭עַתָּה נְגִינָתָ֣ם הָיִ֑יתִי וָאֱהִ֖י לָהֶ֣ם לְמִלָּֽה׃
νυνὶ δὲ κιθάρα ἐγώ εἰμι αὐτῶν καὶ ἐμὲ θρύλημα ἔχουσιν
Nunc in eorum canticum versus sum, et factus sum eis in proverbium.
ወያስቈርሩኒ፡ ወይርኅቁ፡ እምኔየ፡ ወኢይትሀከዩ፡ ወሪቀምራቅ፡ ውሰተ፡ ገጽየ።
“Now I have become their song. Yes, I am a byword to them.
30:10
תִּ֭עֲבוּנִי רָ֣חֲקוּ מֶ֑נִּי וּ֝מִפָּנַ֗י לֹא־חָ֥שְׂכוּ רֹֽק׃
ἐβδελύξαντο δέ με ἀποστάντες μακράν ἀπὸ δὲ προσώπου μου οὐκ ἐφείσαντο πτύελον
Abominantur me, et longe fugiunt a me, et faciem meam conspuere non verentur.
ወከሠተ፡ ምጕንጳሁ፡ ወቀተለኒ፡ ወፈነወልጓመ፡ ውስተ፡ ገጽየ፡ ኃያል።
They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, and don’t hesitate to spit in my face.
30:11
כִּֽי־[יִתְרִ֣י] (יתרו) פִ֭תַּח וַיְעַנֵּ֑נִי וְ֝רֶ֗סֶן מִפָּנַ֥י שִׁלֵּֽחוּ׃
ἀνοίξας γὰρ φαρέτραν αὐτοῦ ἐκάκωσέν με καὶ χαλινὸν τοῦ προσώπου μου ἐξαπέστειλαν
Pharetram enim suam aperuit, et afflixit me, et frenum posuit in os meum.
ወተንሥአ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ በየማነ፡ ኃይል፡ ወሰፍሐ፡ እገሩሁ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ወገብረ፡ ፍኖተ፡ ሞት፡ ላዕሌየ።
For he has untied his cord, and afflicted me; and they have thrown off restraint before me.
30:12
עַל־יָמִין֮ פִּרְחַ֢ח יָ֫ק֥וּמוּ רַגְלַ֥י שִׁלֵּ֑חוּ וַיָּסֹ֥לּוּ עָ֝לַ֗י אׇרְח֥וֹת אֵידָֽם׃
ἐπὶ δεξιῶν βλαστοῦ ἐπανέστησαν πόδα αὐτῶν ἐξέτειναν καὶ ὡδοποίησαν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ τρίβους ἀπωλείας αὐτῶν
Ad dexteram orientis calamitates meae illico surrexerunt : pedes meos subverterunt, et oppresserunt quasi fluctibus semitis suis.
ወደምሰሰ፡ አሠርየ፡ ወሰለበኒ፡ አልባስየ፡ ወደጐፀኒ፡ በአሕፃሁ።
On my right hand rise the rabble. They thrust aside my feet. They cast their ways of destruction up against me.
30:13
נָֽתְס֗וּ נְֽתִיבָ֫תִ֥י לְהַוָּתִ֥י יֹעִ֑ילוּ לֹ֖א עֹזֵ֣ר לָֽמוֹ׃
ἐξετρίβησαν τρίβοι μου ἐξέδυσεν γάρ μου τὴν στολήν
Dissipaverunt itinera mea ; insidiati sunt mihi, et praevaluerunt : et non fuit qui ferret auxilium.
ወረሰየኒ፡ ዘከመ፡ ፈቀደ፡ ወአአይስ፡ በሕማም።
They mar my path. They promote my destruction without anyone’s help.
30:14
כְּפֶ֣רֶץ רָחָ֣ב יֶאֱתָ֑יוּ תַּ֥חַת שֹׁ֝אָ֗ה הִתְגַּלְגָּֽלוּ׃
βέλεσιν αὐτοῦ κατηκόντισέν με κέχρηταί μοι ὡς βούλεται ἐν ὀδύναις πέφυρμαι
Quasi rupto muro, et aperta janua, irruerunt super me, et ad meas miserias devoluti sunt.
ውቱረ፡ ይዋህየኒ፡ ነጾራር፡ ወትፍሕቅ፡ ነፍስየ፡ በላዕሌየ፡ ወትልሕስ፡ ወኃለፈት፡ ሕይወትየ፡ ከመ፡ ደመና፡ ዘትነጽሕ።
As through a wide breach they come. They roll themselves in amid the ruin.
30:15
הׇהְפַּ֥ךְ עָלַ֗י בַּלָּ֫ה֥וֹת תִּרְדֹּ֣ף כָּ֭רוּחַ נְדִבָתִ֑י וּ֝כְעָ֗ב עָבְרָ֥ה יְשֻׁעָתִֽי׃
ἐπιστρέφονται δέ μου αἱ ὀδύναι ᾤχετό μου ἡ ἐλπὶς ὥσπερ πνεῦμα καὶ ὥσπερ νέφος ἡ σωτηρία μου
Redactus sum in nihilum : abstulisti quasi ventus desiderium meum, et velut nubes pertransiit salus mea.
ወይእዜሰ፡ ተክዕወት፡ ነፍስየ፡ በላዕሌየ፡ ወመልአ፡ በላዕሌየ፡ ፃዕር።
Terrors have turned on me. They chase my honor as the wind. My welfare has passed away as a cloud.
30:16
וְעַתָּ֗ה עָ֭לַי תִּשְׁתַּפֵּ֣ךְ נַפְשִׁ֑י יֹ֖אחֲז֣וּנִי יְמֵי־עֹֽנִי׃
καὶ νῦν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἐκχυθήσεται ἡ ψυχή μου ἔχουσιν δέ με ἡμέραι ὀδυνῶν
Nunc autem in memetipso marcescit anima mea, et possident me dies afflictionis.
ወኵሎ፡ ሌሊተ፡ ይነድዱ፡ አፅዕምትየ፡ ወይትመሰዉ፡ አሥራውየ።
“Now my soul is poured out within me. Days of affliction have taken hold of me.
30:17
לַ֗יְלָה עֲ֭צָמַי נִקַּ֣ר מֵעָלָ֑י וְ֝עֹרְקַ֗י לֹ֣א יִשְׁכָּבֽוּן׃
νυκτὶ δέ μου τὰ ὀστᾶ συγκέκαυται τὰ δὲ νεῦρά μου διαλέλυται
Nocte os meum perforatur doloribus, et qui me comedunt, non dormiunt.
እምዓቢይ፡ ኃይል፡ አትሜጠዎ፡ ለልብስየ፡ ወሐነቀኒ፡ አፈ፡ መልበስየ፡ ወኅባኔኒ፡ ፀፈረ፡ ውስተ፡ ክሣድየ።
In the night season my bones are pierced in me, and the pains that gnaw me take no rest.
30:18
בְּרׇב־כֹּ֭חַ יִתְחַפֵּ֣שׂ לְבוּשִׁ֑י כְּפִ֖י כֻתׇּנְתִּ֣י יַאַזְרֵֽנִי׃
ἐν πολλῇ ἰσχύι ἐπελάβετό μου τῆς στολῆς ὥσπερ τὸ περιστόμιον τοῦ χιτῶνός μου περιέσχεν με
In multitudine eorum consumitur vestimentum meum, et quasi capitio tunicae succinxerunt me.
ወኬዱኒ፡ ከመ፡ ፅቡር፡ መሬት፡ ወሐመድ፡ ኮኑ፡ መክፈልትየ።
My garment is disfigured by great force. It binds me about as the collar of my tunic.
30:19
הֹרָ֥נִי לַחֹ֑מֶר וָ֝אֶתְמַשֵּׁ֗ל כֶּעָפָ֥ר וָאֵֽפֶר׃
ἥγησαι δέ με ἴσα πηλῷ ἐν γῇ καὶ σποδῷ μου ἡ μερίς
Comparatus sum luto, et assimilatus sum favillae et cineri.
ገዓርኩ፡ ኀቤከ፡ ወኢሰማዕከኒ፡ ወቀዊምየ፡ ኢጠየቀኒ፡ ደበዩኒ፡ እለ፡ አልቦሙ፡ ምሕረት፡ ወጸንዓተረ፡ እድ፡ እንተ፡ ቀሠፈተኒ።
He has cast me into the mire. I have become like dust and ashes.
30:20
אֲשַׁוַּ֣ע אֵ֭לֶיךָ וְלֹ֣א תַעֲנֵ֑נִי עָ֝מַ֗דְתִּי וַתִּתְבֹּ֥נֶן בִּֽי׃
κέκραγα δὲ πρὸς σὲ καὶ οὐκ εἰσακούεις μου ἔστησαν καὶ κατενόησάν με
Clamo ad te, et non exaudis me : sto, et non respicis me.
ኃደገኒ፡ ውስተ፡ ናእክ፡ ወአርኃቀኒ፡ እምሕይወትየ።
I cry to you, and you do not answer me. I stand up, and you gaze at me.
30:21
תֵּהָפֵ֣ךְ לְאַכְזָ֣ר לִ֑י בְּעֹ֖צֶם יָדְךָ֣ תִשְׂטְמֵֽנִי׃
ἐπέβης δέ μοι ἀνελεημόνως χειρὶ κραταιᾷ με ἐμαστίγωσας
Mutatus es mihi in crudelem, et in duritia manus tuae adversaris mihi.
አእምር፡ ከሰመ፡ ሞት፡ ይቀጠቅጠኒ፡ ወማኅደሩሰ፡ ለኵሉ፡ ዘሞተ፡ ምድር።
You have turned to be cruel to me. With the might of your hand you persecute me.
30:22
תִּשָּׂאֵ֣נִי אֶל־ר֭וּחַ תַּרְכִּיבֵ֑נִי וּ֝תְמֹגְגֵ֗נִי (תשוה) [תּוּשִׁיָּֽה]׃
ἔταξας δέ με ἐν ὀδύναις καὶ ἀπέρριψάς με ἀπὸ σωτηρίας
Elevasti me, et quasi super ventum ponens ; elisisti me valide.
እምፈተውኩ፡ ለልየ፡ እትጐረአይ፡ ወእመ፡ አኮ፡ አስተበቊዕ፡ ባዕድ፡ ይግበር፡ ሊተ፡ ከማሁ።
You lift me up to the wind, and drive me with it. You dissolve me in the storm.
30:23
כִּֽי־יָ֭דַעְתִּי מָ֣וֶת תְּשִׁיבֵ֑נִי וּבֵ֖ית מוֹעֵ֣ד לְכׇל־חָֽי׃
οἶδα γὰρ ὅτι θάνατός με ἐκτρίψει οἰκία γὰρ παντὶ θνητῷ γῆ
Scio quia morti trades me, ubi constituta est domus omni viventi.
አንሰ፡ በእንተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ምንዱብ፡ እበኪ፡ ወአነብፅእመ፡ ርኢኩ፡ ሰብእ፡ ሕሙመ።
For I know that you will bring me to death, to the house appointed for all living.
30:24
אַ֣ךְ לֹֽא־בְ֭עִי יִשְׁלַח־יָ֑ד אִם־בְּ֝פִיד֗וֹ לָהֶ֥ן שֽׁוּעַ׃
εἰ γὰρ ὄφελον δυναίμην ἐμαυτὸν χειρώσασθαι ἢ δεηθείς γε ἑτέρου καὶ ποιήσει μοι τοῦτο
Verumtamen non ad consumptionem eorum emittis manum tuam : et si corruerint, ipse salvabis.
አንሰ፡ አጽናዕክዋ፡ ለሠናይት፡ ናሁ፡ ተራከባኒ፡ መዋዕል፡ እኩያት፡ ወተሰፎኩ፡ ብርሃነ፡ ወመጽአኒ፡ ጽልመት።
“However doesn’t one stretch out a hand in his fall? Or in his calamity therefore cry for help?
30:25
אִם־לֹ֣א בָ֭כִיתִי לִקְשֵׁה־י֑וֹם עָֽגְמָ֥ה נַ֝פְשִׁ֗י לָאֶבְיֽוֹן׃
ἐγὼ δὲ ἐπὶ παντὶ ἀδυνάτῳ ἔκλαυσα ἐστέναξα δὲ ἰδὼν ἄνδρα ἐν ἀνάγκαις
Flebam quondam super eo qui afflictus erat, et compatiebatur anima mea pauperi.
ትፈልሕ፡ ከርሥየ፡ ወኢታረምም፡ ወበጽሐኒ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ተፅናሰ።
Didn’t I weep for him who was in trouble? Wasn’t my soul grieved for the needy?
30:26
כִּ֤י ט֣וֹב קִ֭וִּיתִי וַיָּ֣בֹא רָ֑ע וַאֲיַחֲלָ֥ה לְ֝א֗וֹר וַיָּ֥בֹא אֹֽפֶל׃
ἐγὼ δὲ ἐπέχων ἀγαθοῖς ἰδοὺ συνήντησάν μοι μᾶλλον ἡμέραι κακῶν
Expectabam bona, et venerunt mihi mala : praestolabar lucem, et eruperunt tenebrae.
ወበእኩ፡ ውስተ፡ መጽብብ፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘያስተግኅሦ፡ ሊተ፡ ኃጣእኩ፡ ወቆምኩ፡ ማእከለ፡ ብዙኃን፡ ወአወዩ።
When I looked for good, then evil came. When I waited for light, darkness came.
30:27
מֵעַ֖י רֻתְּח֥וּ וְלֹא־דָ֗מּוּ קִדְּמֻ֥נִי יְמֵי־עֹֽנִי׃
ἡ κοιλία μου ἐξέζεσεν καὶ οὐ σιωπήσεται προέφθασάν με ἡμέραι πτωχείας
Interiora mea efferbuerunt absque ulla requie : praevenerunt me dies afflictionis.
ወኮንኩ፡ እኅዋሆሙ፡ ለጽግነት፡ ወቢጾን፡ ለአዕዋፍ።
My heart is troubled, and doesn’t rest. Days of affliction have come on me.
30:28
קֹדֵ֣ר הִ֭לַּכְתִּי בְּלֹ֣א חַמָּ֑ה קַ֖מְתִּי בַקָּהָ֣ל אֲשַׁוֵּֽעַ׃
στένων πεπόρευμαι ἄνευ φιμοῦ ἕστηκα δὲ ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ κεκραγώς
Moerens incedebam sine furore ; consurgens, in turba clamabam.
ወያዝኀዝኀኒ፡ በሕቁ፡ ማእስየ፡ ተቀሎኩ፡ ወተሐርፃ፡ አዕፅምትየ።
I go mourning without the sun. I stand up in the assembly, and cry for help.
30:29
אָ֭ח הָיִ֣יתִי לְתַנִּ֑ים וְ֝רֵ֗עַ לִבְנ֥וֹת יַעֲנָֽה׃
ἀδελφὸς γέγονα σειρήνων ἑταῖρος δὲ στρουθῶν
Frater fui draconum, et socius struthionum.
ወመሰንቆ፡ ኮነኒ፡ ሕማምየ፡ ወኮነኒ፡ መዝሙረ፡ አንብዕየ።
I am a brother to jackals, and a companion to ostriches.
30:30
ע֭וֹרִי שָׁחַ֣ר מֵעָלָ֑י וְעַצְמִי־חָ֝֗רָה מִנִּי־חֹֽרֶב׃
τὸ δὲ δέρμα μου ἐσκότωται μεγάλως τὰ δὲ ὀστᾶ μου ἀπὸ καύματος
Cutis mea denigrata est super me, et ossa mea aruerunt prae caumate.

My skin grows black and peels from me. My bones are burned with heat.
30:31
וַיְהִ֣י לְ֭אֵבֶל כִּנֹּרִ֑י וְ֝עֻגָבִ֗י לְק֣וֹל בֹּכִֽים׃
ἀπέβη δὲ εἰς πάθος μου ἡ κιθάρα ὁ δὲ ψαλμός μου εἰς κλαυθμὸν ἐμοί
Versa est in luctum cithara mea, et organum meum in vocem flentium.

Therefore my harp has turned to mourning, and my pipe into the voice of those who weep.
