And in the twelfth year of the same reign, Clement succeeded Anencletus, who had been bishop of the church of Rome for twelve years. The apostle teaches that this Clement had become his fellow-worker, writing to the Philippians and saying: “with Clement also and the rest of my fellow-workers, whose names are in the book of life.”
