📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: If a soul sins before the Lord unintentionally, in any of the ordinances of the Lord that ought not to be done, and does some one of them —
If the anointed high priest sins so as to make the people sin, then he shall bring for his sin which he sinned a calf from the oxen, without blemish, to the Lord, for his sin.
And he shall bring the calf to the door of the tent of witness before the Lord, and he shall lay his hand on the head of the calf before the Lord, and he shall slaughter the calf in the presence of the Lord.
And the priest shall put some of the blood of the calf on the horns of the altar of compounded incense that is before the Lord, which is in the tent of witness; and all the blood of the calf he shall pour out at the base of the altar of the whole burnt offerings, which is beside the doors of the tent of witness.
And all the fat of the calf of the sin offering he shall remove from it: the fat that covers the inward parts and all the fat that is on the inward parts,
they shall carry the whole calf outside the camp to a clean place, where they pour out the ashes, and they shall burn it up on wood with fire; on the ash heap it shall be burned.
But if the whole congregation of Israel is unwittingly ignorant, and a matter escapes the eyes of the congregation, and they do one of all the commandments of the Lord which shall not be done, and they become guilty of an offence,
and the sin which they sinned in it becomes known to them, then the congregation shall bring a calf from the oxen, without blemish, for the sin, and shall bring it beside the doors of the tent of witness.
And the priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of compounded incense, which is in the presence of the Lord, which is in the tent of witness; and all the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of the burnt offerings, which is at the door of the tent of witness.
And he shall do to the calf as he did to the calf of the sin offering; so shall it be done. And the priest shall make atonement for them, and the sin shall be forgiven them.
And they shall carry the whole calf outside the camp and shall burn up the calf as they burned up the former calf. It is a sin offering of the congregation.
But if the ruler sins and unintentionally does one of all the commandments of the Lord their God which shall not be done, and sins and becomes guilty of an offence,
And he shall lay the hand on the head of the kid, and they shall slaughter it in the place where they slaughter the whole burnt offerings, in the presence of the Lord. It is a sin offering.
And the priest shall put some of the blood of the sin offering with the finger on the horns of the altar of the whole burnt offerings; and all its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of the whole burnt offerings.
And all its fat he shall offer up on the altar, just like the fat of the sacrifice of deliverance. And the priest shall make atonement for him from his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.
But if one soul from the people of the land sins unintentionally, in doing one of all the commandments of the Lord which shall not be done, and becomes guilty of an offence,
and the sin which he sinned in it becomes known to him, then he shall bring a kid of the goats, a female without blemish; he shall bring it for the sin which he sinned.
And he shall lay the hand on the head of his sin offering, and they shall slaughter the kid of the sin offering in the place where they slaughter the whole burnt offerings.
And the priest shall take some of its blood with the finger and shall put it on the horns of the altar of the whole burnt offerings; and all its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.
And all the fat he shall remove, in the manner the fat is removed from a sacrifice of deliverance, and the priest shall offer it up on the altar for an aroma of fragrance to the Lord. And the priest shall make atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him.
And the priest, taking some of the blood of the sin offering with the finger, shall put it on the horns of the altar of whole burnt offering; and all its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of whole burnt offering.
And all its fat he shall remove, in the manner the fat of a sheep is removed from the sacrifice of deliverance, and the priest shall put it on the altar, upon the whole burnt offering of the Lord. And the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin which he sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.
