📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

They made kings for themselves, but not through me; they set up rulers, and they did not make it known to me. Of their silver and their gold they made idols for themselves, so that they might be utterly destroyed.
For they sowed things blasted by the wind, and their overthrow shall receive them; a sheaf that has no strength to make flour, and even if it should make it, strangers shall devour it.
For though they offer a sacrifice and eat meat, the Lord will not accept them; now he will remember their iniquities and punish their sins. They turned back to Egypt, and among the Assyrians they shall eat unclean things.
And Israel forgot the one who made him, and they built shrines; and Judah multiplied walled cities. But I will send out fire into his cities, and it shall devour their foundations.
