What about you and the war that you can't overcome, you can attack the strong city and its inhabitants as you did to the cities of the Amorites who are not strong. Is it not to the weak among us that you did this thing and killed the gate of the city, because there is no valor among them because they will see at the sound of your shouting. And now in this place you will be able to fight, because in this you will all die and the revenge of all the cities that you destroyed will be avenged on you. And one of them, a hero named Erod, came forward and struck Judah on the head with his sword, and Judah hurried and put a shield on his head and fused the sword with the shield and split it in two. And that hero, when he struck Judah, ran for his life for fear of Judah, and his feet stumbled on the wall among the sons of Jacob under the wall, and the sons of Jacob beat him and killed him. And Judah's head ached from the blow of the hero, and Judah almost did not die in that blow, and Judah cried out from the pain of that blow over the wall. And Dan heard the voice of Judah's cry and his anger burned in him, and he also got up and went far away and ran and jumped from the land and climbed the wall in the anger of his strength. And when Dan was in possession of the wall near Judah, all the men of the wall who stood against Judah fled from there and climbed the second wall and threw more arrows and stones from the second wall to Dan and Judah and sought to escape them from the wall, and the arrows and stones came to Dan and Judah and almost those who did not die on the wall. And it was to the place where Dan and Judah would climb the wall, and arrows and stones would come at them from the second wall. And Jacob and his sons still opened the city gate under the first wall, and they had no place to draw a bow to the inhabitants of the city because they would not be seen because they were on the second wall. And Dan and Yehuda when they could not bear the stones and the arrows that came down to them from the second wall, and they both jumped to the second wall to the people of the city. And the people of the city who were on the second wall saw that Dan and Judah had come before them to the second wall, and they all shouted and went down between the walls. And Jacob and his sons heard the voice of the people of the city shouting and they were still at the gate of the city and they were very afraid of Dan and Judah, because they were not visible to them because they were on the second wall. And Naftali got up in the rage of his strength, and jumped over the first wall to see what the sound of the cry he heard in the city was. And the inhabitants of the land see from afar. And all the inhabitants of the land will be very afraid of the sons of Jacob who did this thing, because no king from ancient times has done such a thing. And all the seven Canaanite kings were destined to make peace with the sons of Jacob, because they would fear their souls greatly from the sons of Jacob. And the sons of Jacob returned and went out into the field, because they did not believe in the kings of the land. And when they went out, behold, the king of Hebron and three of his ministers and nine men with him came on the road in front of the sons of Jacob. And the sons of Jacob lifted up their eyes and saw from afar, and they recognized Yaphia the king of Hebron and his ministers coming towards them, and the sons of Jacob stood in their place at the gate of Nablus and did not go. And the king of Hebron went forth, and he and his ministers drew near until he came to the sons of Jacob, and they bowed to the ground with his ministers. And the king of Hebron sat with his ministers before the sons of Jacob, and the sons of Jacob said to him, "How are you, king of Hebron, why have you come to us today, and what do you want from us?" And the king of Hebron said to Jacob, My Lord, for the kings of Canaan are all coming to you today to make peace with you. And the sons of Jacob heard the words of the king of Hebron and did not obey his words, because the sons of Jacob did not believe him because they thought that the king of Hebron had spoken to them deceitfully. And the king of Hebron knew of the words of the sons of Jacob, because they did not believe all his words. And the king of Hebron came again before Jacob and said to him, My Lord, for all these kings come to you for peace, because they did not come with all their men. And they did not bring any weapons of war against them, because they came to ask for peace from my lord and his sons. And the sons of Jacob answered the king of Hebron saying, Please send and let all these kings alone come before us if you will really speak to us. And if they came to us without their weapons of war, we knew that they would ask for peace from him. And Yiphia, king of Hebron, sent one of his men to the kings, and they all came before the sons of Jacob and bowed their heads to the ground. And these kings sat before Jacob and before his sons and spoke to them saying, We have heard all that you did to the kings of the Amorites with your hard sword and your very large arm because not one of them stood before you. And we are very afraid of our souls from you, lest we be called as they are, and we come to you to make a covenant of peace for us. And now make us a covenant and true peace when you will not touch us and he will not touch you. And the sons of Jacob knew that they had really come to seek peace from them, and all the sons of Jacob listened to them and made a covenant of peace with them. And the sons of Jacob swore to them that they would not touch them, and all the Canaanite kings also swore. And the sons of Jacob were taxed, from that day forward.
~130~ And after that all the ministers of these kings came with all their men before the sons of Jacob and offered offerings in their hands to Jacob and his sons, and bowed their heads to the ground. And these kings pleaded with the sons of Jacob and begged them to return all the captives that he had taken from the seven cities of the Amorites. And the sons of Jacob did so and returned all the captives, the women and children, and all the cattle and all the booty that they had taken, and they sent them away and each went to his city. And all these kings bowed again to the sons of Jacob, and sent and brought many offerings to them in those days. And the sons of Jacob sent these kings and their men, and they went away from them in peace to their cities, and the sons of Jacob also returned to their place in Shechem. And there was peace from that day forward between the sons of Jacob and the Canaanite kings, until the sons of Israel came to the land of Canaan to possess it.
