~123~ And the men of Geash who were on the wall saw that the sons of Jacob were unable to attack them under the wall, and they insulted the sons of Jacob with these words to say. What about you and the war that you can't overcome, you can attack the strong city and its inhabitants as you did to the cities of the Amorites who are not strong. Is it not to the weak among us that you did this thing and killed the gate of the city, because there is no valor among them because they will see at the sound of your shouting. And now in this place you will be able to fight, because in this you will all die and the revenge of all the cities that you destroyed will be avenged on you. And the dwellers of Gesh greatly vexed the sons of Jacob, and cursed their God, and threw arrows and stones at them from over the wall. And Yehuda and his brothers heard the words of the inhabitants of Geash, and they were very angry. And Judah was jealous of his God for this, and cried out and said, God has saved, God has saved us and our brothers. And he ran from afar with all his might and his sword was drawn in his hand, and he leapt and ascended the sky and mounted the wall in the fury of his strength and the sword fell from his hand. And Judah shouted on the wall, and all the people on the wall were frightened, and they fell from them into the city above the wall and died. And those who were still on the wall when they saw the valor of Judah would be very afraid, and they would try to escape from them into the city. And some of them strengthened themselves to fight with Yehuda on the wall, and went to kill him when they saw that there was no sword in Yehuda's hand and said to throw him over the wall to his brother. And about twenty men from the city came up to them and surrounded Judah and they all shouted at me and approached him with drawn swords and frightened Judah, and Judah shouted over the wall to his brothers. And Jacob and his sons drew a bow from under the wall, and struck the men who were on the wall three men. And Joseph Yehuda shouted and cried out, God has helped us, God has delivered us, and he shouted with a loud voice on the wall and the shout was heard far away. And when he shouted, he added to shout a second time, and all the people around Judah on the wall were frightened, and every man threw his sword from his hand at the sound of Judah's shout, and he was afraid, and tried to attack them. And Judah took the swords that fell from their hands, and Judah fought with them and killed twenty of them on the wall. And about eighty men and women went up from the city to the wall and they all surrounded Judah, and God put fear in Judah's hearts and they could not approach him. And Jacob and all who were with him drew a bow from under the wall and killed ten men on the wall, and they fell under the wall before Jacob and his sons.

~124~ And the men of the wall saw that thirty of them had fallen and they were running towards Judah with drawn swords, but they could not approach him, because they saw greatly the strength of Judah. And one of them, a hero named Erod, came forward and struck Judah on the head with his sword, and Judah hurried and put a shield on his head and fused the sword with the shield and split it in two. And that hero, when he struck Judah, ran for his life for fear of Judah, and his feet stumbled on the wall among the sons of Jacob under the wall, and the sons of Jacob beat him and killed him. And Judah's head ached from the blow of the hero, and Judah almost did not die in that blow, and Judah cried out from the pain of that blow over the wall. And Dan heard the voice of Judah's cry and his anger burned in him, and he also got up and went far away and ran and jumped from the land and climbed the wall in the anger of his strength. And when Dan was in possession of the wall near Judah, all the men of the wall who stood against Judah fled from there and climbed the second wall and threw more arrows and stones from the second wall to Dan and Judah and sought to escape them from the wall, and the arrows and stones came to Dan and Judah and almost those who did not die on the wall. And it was to the place where Dan and Judah would climb the wall, and arrows and stones would come at them from the second wall. And Jacob and his sons still opened the city gate under the first wall, and they had no place to draw a bow to the inhabitants of the city because they would not be seen because they were on the second wall. And Dan and Yehuda when they could not bear the stones and the arrows that came down to them from the second wall, and they both jumped to the second wall to the people of the city. And the people of the city who were on the second wall saw that Dan and Judah had come before them to the second wall, and they all shouted and went down between the walls. And Jacob and his sons heard the voice of the people of the city shouting and they were still at the gate of the city and they were very afraid of Dan and Judah, because they were not visible to them because they were on the second wall. And Naftali got up in the rage of his strength, and jumped over the first wall to see what the sound of the cry he heard in the city was. And Issachar and Zebulun went to break the gates of the city, and they opened the gates of the city and they all came into the city. And Naftali jumped from the first wall to the second and came to his brother's house. And the inhabitants of Geash, who were on the wall, saw that Naphtali the third had come up to help his brothers, and they all tried and fled and went down into the city.

~125~ And Jacob and his sons and all their young men came to the city to them, and Yehuda and Naphtali went down from the wall into the city and chased after the inhabitants of the city. And Shimon and Levi were water to the city and did not know that the city gate was opened, and they went up from there to the wall and went down to their brothers inside the city. And the inhabitants of the city all went down into the city, and the sons of Jacob came upon them from here and there, and the battle was for them front and back. And the sons of Jacob struck them with a very great blow and killed about twenty thousand men and women among them, and not one of them stood before the sons of Jacob. And the blood abounded in the city and it was like a stream of water, and the blood came out like a stream as far as the outside of the city and reached as far as Beit Horon. And the people of Beit Horon saw from afar the blood coming out of the city of Geash, and about seventy of them ran to see that blood. And they will come to the place of the blood and they will walk in the tracks of the blood and they will come to the wall of Beit Geash, and they will see the blood coming out of the city. And they heard the sound of the shout of the inhabitants of the volcano, the sky rose, and the blood was coming out in great abundance like a stream of water. And all the sons of Jacob are still beating the residents of Geash, and they will kill about twenty thousand men and women with them until evening. And said those Horonite people, but this is the act of the Hebrews because they are still fighting in the cities of all the Amorites. And those men hastened and ran to Beit Horon, and each man took his weapon of war, and called all the inhabitants of Beit Horon, and they also girded on their weapons of war to go fight the sons of Jacob. And the sons of Jacob as a whole will strike the inhabitants of Geash, and they will go inside the city to strip all the spaces. And they will come forward from the city and beyond, and they will find three very heroic men and they have no sword in their hand. And the sons of Jacob came to their place, and the heroes ran to them, and one of them took Zebulun, because he saw him as a small and short boy, and threw him to the ground with his strength. And Jacob ran to him with his sword, and Jacob smote him under his shoulders with the sword and divided them in two, and the heathen fell upon Zebulun. And the other suddenly came and strengthened Jacob to make him fall to the ground, and Jacob swung at him and shouted at him, and Shimon and Levi ran and struck him with their swords on the shins and fell him to the ground. And the hero rose up from the ground in the rage of his strength, and Judah ran to him before he could stand and struck him on the head with the sword and his head split open and he died. And the third hero, when he saw that his men were dead, ran before the sons of Jacob, and the sons of Jacob all chased after him inside the city.

~126~ And Benus the hero came and found one sword from the inhabitants of the city of Vishana, and he swung it at the sons of Jacob and fought with them with that sword. And the hero ran to Judah to kill him with a sword on his head, and there was no shield in Judah's hand. And when he struck him, Naphtali rushed from him and put a shield on Judah's head, and the hero's sword fused with Naphtali's shield, and Judah was saved from the sword. And Shimon and Levi ran at the hero with their swords, and struck him with their swords on the head with force, and the two swords came down on the hero's side and split him in two lengthwise. And the sons of Jacob killed those three heroes at that time along with all the inhabitants of Geash, and today it was inclined to guarantee. And Jacob's sons marched through the storm and took all the spoils of the city, but the storm and the women did not die. And the sons of Jacob did to Gesch as they did to Cancer and Shiloh. And the sons of Jacob drove all the spoil of Geash, and left the city by night. They came out and walked up to the top of Beit Horon, they went up the top and the residents of Beit Horon went up the top to meet them. And the sons of Jacob fought the inhabitants of Beit Horon at the height of Beit Horon that night. And all the residents of Beit Horon are all heroes, one of them will not escape from a thousand people. And they fought that night on the mountain in the dark, and all the men of Beit Horon shouted on the mountain, and their shouts were heard that night far away and the whole earth shook with their shouts. And all the sons of Jacob were afraid of those people because they did not try to fight in the dark, and they were very frightened. And the sons of Jacob cried out to God saying, God save us and save us and we will not die at the hands of these widows. And the Lord heard the voice of the sons of Jacob, and the Lord brought upon the people of Beit Huron great anxiety and panic, and they fought among themselves in the darkness of the night, and they beat many others. And the sons of Jacob knew that God had brought among those people a restless spirit and they fought each other. And the sons of Jacob left the congregation of the people of Horon and went all the way down to the top of Beit Horon and beyond, and they spent the night there with their boys that night for sure. And all the people of Beit Horon fought all night, man against his brother and man against his fellow, and shouted from here and there on the mountain, and their shout was heard far away and the whole land was moved by their voice because they were very high above the whole land. And all the inhabitants of the city of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Hivites, and all the kings of Canaan, and also all who were beyond the Jordan, heard the sound of the cry that night. And they said, but here are the wars of the Hebrews which they are fighting in the seven cities that approach them and who can stand before those Hebrews. And all the inhabitants of the Canaanite cities and all who were beyond the Jordan were greatly afraid of the sons of Jacob, for they said, Behold, what they did to these cities, they will do to us also, for who can stand before their strong valor.

~127~ โ€‹โ€‹And the Huronites shouted loudly that night and they would go and shout and beat each other until the morning light, and many of them would die. And the morning dawned at dawn, and all the sons of Jacob arose and went up the mountain, and the rest of the Horonites were struck with a great blow, and they all died on that mountain. And the day dawned on the sixth day, and all the inhabitants of Canaan saw from afar all the people of Beit Horon dead and thrown on the mountain of Beit Horon like sheep and dead sheep. And the sons of Jacob led all the captives who had returned from Meshach, and they went to Beit Huron. And they came to Beit Horon and found the city full of blue people and fought them, and the sons of Jacob beat them until noon. And the sons of Jacob did to Beit Horon as they did to Geash and Tofah, and when they did to Hazar to Cancer and Shiloh. And the sons of Jacob took the captives of the house of Horon and all the plunder of the cities with them, and they went to their place that day. And the sons of Jacob came on the sixth day from the city of Nablus to their home, and they sat outside the city and rested there from the war at that time and spent the night there. And all their slaves and all the booty they took from the cities they left outside the city and did not come into the city, because they said lest there be another war against us and they would come to besiege us in Nablus. And Jacob and his sons and their servants dwelt that day and the next day in the portion of the field which Jacob had bought from Hamor for five shekels, and all who dwelt with them. And all the spoil and all the booty that the sons of Jacob plundered in the part of the field was blue that is on the edge of the day, of which there is no number. And the inhabitants of the land see from afar. And all the inhabitants of the land will be very afraid of the sons of Jacob who did this thing, because no king from ancient times has done such a thing. And all the seven Canaanite kings were destined to make peace with the sons of Jacob, because they would fear their souls greatly from the sons of Jacob. And it came to pass on that day, the seventh day, that Jephia, the king of Hebron, sent secretly to the king of Ai, and to the king of Gibeon, and to the king of Shalom, and to the king of Adullam, and to the king of Lachish, and to the king of Hazor, and to all the kings of the Canaanites who were under their hand as said. Come up with me and come to me and we will go to the sons of Jacob, and we will settle with them in peace and in a covenant. Lest your land be destroyed like this by the swords of the sons of Jacob, as they did to Nablus and the cities around it when you heard and saw.

~128~ And when you come to me, do not come with many people, only every king will bring with him his three greatest ministers and every minister will come with three of his servants. And you will all come to me in Hebron and we will all come together to the sons of Jacob, and we will beg before them and they will make us a covenant of peace. And all the kings did this when the king of Hebron sent to them because they were all under his advice and what he said, and all the kings of Canaan gathered to go to the sons of Jacob to make peace with them. And the sons of Jacob returned and went out into the field, because they did not believe in the kings of the land. And the sons of Jacob returned and stayed in the field for ten days, and no one came to them to fight. And the sons of Jacob saw that there was no war, and they all gathered together and came to the city of Nablus, and the sons of Jacob dwelt in Nablus. And all the kings of the Amorites gathered from all their places at the end of forty days, and they all came to Hebron to Yaphia, king of Hebron. And the number of the kings who came to Hebron to complete the sons of Jacob was twenty-one kings. And the number of ministers who came with them were sixty-three ministers, and their men one hundred and eighty-nine. And all these kings and their men camped on Mount Hebron, and the king of Hebron went out to them with three of his ministers and nine of their men with them. And these kings consulted together to go to the sons of Jacob for peace. And they said to the king of Hebron, you go before us with your men and spoke to the sons of Jacob on our behalf, and later we will come after you and fulfill your words, and the king of Hebron did so. And the sons of Jacob heard that all the kings of Canaan had gathered and camped in Hebron. And the sons of Jacob sent as spies four slaves from among their slaves to say, Go and spy on these kings and demand and interrogate their people and whether they are few or many. And it would be if you saw when Matthew counted, and you counted them all and came. And Jacob's servants went secretly to these kings, and did as the sons of Jacob commanded. And they came to the sons of Jacob on that day and said to them, We have come to these kings and here they are when we count and count them all and here are eight and eight and two hundred kings and people. And Benjamin said, "When will they number and we will not all go out to them?" And it came to pass in the morning, that the sons of Jacob arose, and chose sixty-two men from among their men, and ten sons of Jacob went out with them, and girded each of them with his weapons of war, for they said that they were coming to war against us, for they did not know that for what purpose they were coming to them.

~129~ And the sons of Jacob went out with their servants to the gate of Nablus to meet these kings, and their father Jacob was with them. And when they went out, behold, the king of Hebron and three of his ministers and nine men with him came on the road in front of the sons of Jacob. And the sons of Jacob lifted up their eyes and saw from afar, and they recognized Yaphia the king of Hebron and his ministers coming towards them, and the sons of Jacob stood in their place at the gate of Nablus and did not go. And the king of Hebron went forth, and he and his ministers drew near until he came to the sons of Jacob, and they bowed to the ground with his ministers. And the king of Hebron sat with his ministers before the sons of Jacob, and the sons of Jacob said to him, "How are you, king of Hebron, why have you come to us today, and what do you want from us?" And the king of Hebron said to Jacob, My Lord, for the kings of Canaan are all coming to you today to make peace with you. And the sons of Jacob heard the words of the king of Hebron and did not obey his words, because the sons of Jacob did not believe him because they thought that the king of Hebron had spoken to them deceitfully. And the king of Hebron knew of the words of the sons of Jacob, because they did not believe all his words. And the king of Hebron came again before Jacob and said to him, My Lord, for all these kings come to you for peace, because they did not come with all their men. And they did not bring any weapons of war against them, because they came to ask for peace from my lord and his sons. And the sons of Jacob answered the king of Hebron saying, Please send and let all these kings alone come before us if you will really speak to us. And if they came to us without their weapons of war, we knew that they would ask for peace from him. And Yiphia, king of Hebron, sent one of his men to the kings, and they all came before the sons of Jacob and bowed their heads to the ground. And these kings sat before Jacob and before his sons and spoke to them saying, We have heard all that you did to the kings of the Amorites with your hard sword and your very large arm because not one of them stood before you. And we are very afraid of our souls from you, lest we be called as they are, and we come to you to make a covenant of peace for us. And now make us a covenant and true peace when you will not touch us and he will not touch you. And the sons of Jacob knew that they had really come to seek peace from them, and all the sons of Jacob listened to them and made a covenant of peace with them. And the sons of Jacob swore to them that they would not touch them, and all the Canaanite kings also swore. And the sons of Jacob were taxed, from that day forward.

~130~ And after that all the ministers of these kings came with all their men before the sons of Jacob and offered offerings in their hands to Jacob and his sons, and bowed their heads to the ground. And these kings pleaded with the sons of Jacob and begged them to return all the captives that he had taken from the seven cities of the Amorites. And the sons of Jacob did so and returned all the captives, the women and children, and all the cattle and all the booty that they had taken, and they sent them away and each went to his city. And all these kings bowed again to the sons of Jacob, and sent and brought many offerings to them in those days. And the sons of Jacob sent these kings and their men, and they went away from them in peace to their cities, and the sons of Jacob also returned to their place in Shechem. And there was peace from that day forward between the sons of Jacob and the Canaanite kings, until the sons of Israel came to the land of Canaan to possess it.
