2 Kings 8

And Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, Rise up and go, you and your household, and sojourn wherever you may sojourn, for the Lord has called for a famine upon the land, and indeed it has come upon the land for seven years.

And the woman rose up and did according to the word of Elisha, and she and her household went and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

And it came about at the end of the seven years that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines to the city, and she came to cry out to the king concerning her own house and her own fields.

Now the king was speaking with Giezi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray, all the great things that Elisha has done.

And it came about, as he was recounting to the king how he had restored a dead son to life, that behold, the woman whose son Elisha had restored to life was crying out to the king concerning her own house and her own fields. And Giezi said, My lord O king, this is the woman, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.

And the king questioned the woman, and she recounted it to him. And the king gave her one eunuch, saying, Restore all that is hers and all the produce of her field from the day she left the land until now.

And Elisha came to Damascus; and the son of Ader, king of Syria, was sick. And they told him, saying, The man of God has come here.

And the king said to Hazael, Take a manaa in your hand and go to meet the man of God, and inquire of the Lord through him, saying, Shall I live through this sickness of mine?

So Hazael went to meet him and took a manaa in his hand, and all the good things of Damascus, a load of forty camels; and he came and stood before him and said to Elisha, Your son, the son of Ader, king of Syria, has sent me to you, saying, Shall I live through this sickness of mine?

And Elisaie said, Go, say to him, You shall surely live; and the Lord has shown me that you shall surely die.

And he stood before his face, and he held it until shame; and the man of God wept.

And Azael said, Why is it that my lord weeps? And he said, Because I know all the evils you will do to the sons of Israel: their strongholds you will send off in fire, and their chosen men you will kill with the sword, and their infants you will dash down, and their pregnant women you will rip open.

And Azael said, Who is your servant, the dead dog, that he should do this thing? And Elisaie said, The Lord has shown me you reigning over Syria.

And he departed from Elisaie and went in to his lord, and he said to him, What did Elisaie say to you? And he said, He said to me, You shall surely live.

And it came to pass on the next day that he took the machma and dipped it in the water and spread it over his face, and he died; and Azael reigned in his place.

In the fifth year of Joram son of Achaab king of Israel, Joram son of Josaphat king of Juda began to reign.

He was a son of thirty-two years when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Achaab did, for a daughter of Achaab was his wife; and he did what was evil before the Lord.

But the Lord was not willing to destroy Juda, for the sake of David his servant, as he said he would give him a lamp, and to his sons, all the days.

In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Juda, and they made a king over themselves.

And Joram went up to Sior, and all the chariots with him. And it came to pass when he rose up, that he struck Edom which had surrounded him, and the commanders of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.

So Edom revolted from under the hand of Juda unto this day. Then Lobena also revolted at that time.

And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, behold, are these not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda?

And Joram slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Ochozias his son reigned in his place.

In the twelfth year of Joram son of Achaab king of Israel, Ochozias son of Joram began to reign.

Ochozias was a son of twenty-two years when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Gotholia, daughter of Ambri king of Israel.

And he walked in the way of the house of Achaab, and did what was evil before the Lord, as the house of Achaab.

And he went with Joram son of Achaab to war against Azael king of the foreigners at Remmoth Galaad; and the Syrians struck Joram.

And king Joram returned to be healed in Jezrael of the wounds with which they struck him at Remmoth when he fought against Azael king of Syria. And Ochozias son of Joram went down to see Joram son of Achaab in Jezrael, because he was sick.
