ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

And Moab broke faith with Israel after Achaab died.
And Ochozias fell through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria and became ill. And he sent messengers and said to them: Go and inquire of Baal the Fly, god of Akkaron, whether I shall recover from this illness of mine. And they went to make inquiry through him.
And an angel of the Lord spoke to Eliou the Thesbite, saying: Rise, go up to meet the messengers of Ochozias king of Samaria, and you shall say to them: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal the Fly, god of Akkaron?
And it shall not be so! For thus says the Lord: The bed on which you have gone up, from it you shall not come down, for there you shall surely die. And Eliou went and spoke to them.
And they said to him: A man came up to meet us and said to us: Go, return to the king who sent you, and speak to him: Thus says the Lord: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to seek out Baal the Fly, god of Akkaron? It shall not be so! The bed on which you have gone up, from it you shall not come down, for you shall surely die.
And he sent to him a commander, a captain of fifty, with his fifty men. And he went up and came to him, and behold, Eliou was sitting on the top of the mountain. And the captain of fifty spoke to him and said: Man of God, the king has summoned you; come down.
And Eliou answered and said to the captain of fifty: If indeed I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and devour you and your fifty. And fire came down from heaven and devoured him and his fifty.
And the king sent again to him another captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he went up, and the captain of fifty spoke to him and said: Man of God, thus says the king: Come down quickly.
And Eliou answered and spoke to him and said: If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and devour you and your fifty. And fire came down from heaven and devoured him and his fifty.
And the king sent yet again a commander, a third captain of fifty, with his fifty men. And the third captain of fifty came to him and bent upon his knees before Eliou and entreated him and spoke to him and said: Man of God, let my life and the life of these fifty servants of yours be held precious in your eyes.
Behold, fire came down from heaven and devoured the first two captains of fifty and their fifties; and now let the life of your servants be held precious in your eyes.
And he spoke to him, and Eliou said: Thus says the Lord: Why is it that you sent messengers to seek out Baal the Fly, god of Akkaron? It shall not be so! The bed on which you have gone up, from it you shall not come down, for you shall surely die.
And the rest of the acts of Ochozias, all that he did, behold, are these not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel? And Ioram son of Achaab reigns over Israel in Samaria twelve years, in the eighteenth year of Iosaphat king of Iouda. And he did what was evil before the Lord, only not like his brothers nor like his mother. And he removed the pillars of Baal which his father had made and shattered them; only he clung to the sins of the house of Ieroboam, who made Israel to sin; he did not turn away from them. And the Lord was kindled with anger against the house of Achaab.
