ℹ️ This corpus has no morphological tagging. Glosses are matched by word form against a dictionary — a match does not prove it is the same word (an inflected form can coincide with another word’s lemma). Verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).
24:1
Jerosolymis vero Cyrillus post Maximum, sacerdotio confusa jam ordinatione suscepto, aliquando in fide, saepius in communione variabat. Apud Alexandriam vero Georgius satis procaciter vi raptum episcopatum gerebat, ita ut magis sibi juris dicendi creditos fasces, quam sacerdotium ministrandum religiosis officiis aestimaret.
At Jerusalem, indeed, Cyril, who succeeded Maximus by an ordination already tainted, sometimes wavered in the faith, more often in communion. But at Alexandria George conducted, quite insolently, an episcopate seized by force, so that he reckoned that the fasces of jurisdiction had been entrusted to him rather than a priesthood to be administered by religious offices.
