ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging . Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.

A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.
It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of drinking, since this is the end of every man, and the living will lay it to his heart.
Vexation is better than laughter, for by a sad face the heart is made better.
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise than for a man to hear the song of fools.
For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of fools. This too is vanity.
For oppression drives the wise man mad, and destroys the heart of his vigor.
The end of words is better than its beginning; the patient man is better than the one lofty in spirit.
Do not be hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.
Do not say, “What has happened, that the former days were better than these?” For you have not inquired about this in wisdom.
Wisdom is good together with an inheritance, and an advantage to those who see the sun.
For to be in the shadow of wisdom is like the shadow of silver; and the advantage of the knowledge of wisdom is that it gives life to the one who has it.
Consider the works of God; for who will be able to set in order what God has made crooked?
In the day of good, live in good; and in the day of evil, consider. God has made this one to correspond to that one, concerning speech, so that a man may find nothing at all after him.
All this I have seen in the days of my vanity: there is a righteous man perishing in his righteousness, and there is an ungodly man enduring in his evil.
Do not be excessively righteous, and do not make yourself overly wise, lest you be confounded.
Do not be exceedingly ungodly, and do not be hard, lest you die before your time.
It is good that you hold fast to this, and also from that do not withdraw your hand; for he who fears God will come through them all.
Wisdom will help the wise man more than ten rulers who are in the city.
For there is no righteous man on the earth who does good and does not sin.
Also, do not lay your heart to all the words that people will speak, lest you hear your servant cursing you.
For many times he will do you wrong, and on many occasions he will afflict your heart, just as you yourself have cursed others.
All these things I tested by wisdom; I said, “I will become wise.”
But it was far from me, farther than it was; and it is deep, a great depth—who will find it out?
I went round about, I and my heart, to know and to examine and to seek wisdom and reckoning, and to know the folly of the ungodly, and hardness, and madness.
And I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and dragnets, whose hands are fetters. He who is good before the face of God shall be delivered from her, but the sinner shall be caught by her.
See, this I found, said the Ecclesiast, one thing after another, so as to find out the reckoning.
This my soul still sought and I did not find: one man among a thousand I found, but a woman among all these I did not find.
Only see, this I found: that God made man upright, but they themselves sought out many reckonings.
