The oracle of the word of the Lord concerning Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out heaven and founds the earth and forms the spirit of man within him:
And it will be in that day, I will make Jerusalem a stone trampled by all the nations; everyone who tramples it will utterly mock it, and all the nations of the earth will be gathered together against it.
In that day, says the Lord Almighty, I will strike every horse with bewilderment and its rider with madness; but upon the house of Judah I will open my eyes, and I will strike all the horses of the peoples with blindness.
And the captains of thousands of Judah will say in their hearts, We will find for ourselves the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the Lord Almighty, their God.
In that day I will make the captains of thousands of Judah like a firebrand among wood and like a torch of fire among stubble; and they will devour on the right and on the left all the peoples round about. And Jerusalem will dwell again in her own place.
And the Lord will save the tents of Judah as at the beginning, so that the boasting of the house of David and the exaltation of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not be magnified over Judah.
And it will be in that day that the Lord will shield the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and the one who is weak among them in that day will be like the house of David, and the house of David like the house of God, like the angel of the Lord before them.
And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and compassion; and they will look to me because of the things in which they mocked, and they will mourn for him with mourning as for a beloved one, and they will be in anguish with anguish as over a firstborn.
And the land will mourn, tribe by tribe: each tribe by itself, and their wives by themselves; the tribe of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the tribe of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves.
